I'd never heard of the game until I watched a talkshow about it, Oprah I think.
There was a woman on there who's daughter played it and ended up choking to death.
They showcased a bunch of different games that you'd think would be just good clean fun but ended in tragedy. I just can't remember what they are right now.

Someone did die playing that a while ago. When I use to be in girlscouts they made a huge deal out of it and had a doctor come in warning us of the dangers in stuffing our faces with marshmellows. They also warned us of drawing on our skin with pens (this was during the "milky pen" fad) so it was hard to take the warning seriously.

I liked the milky pen fad.

I still write on myself when I'm bored.

I watched that particular episode of Oprah as well.

I think they said something about the marshmellow melting in your mouth and making a coating inside your throat when your holding them all in your mouth...i don't quite remember it though.

I also write on myself from time to time. :P

I played that before during my young camping days...Those were the good old times. It is a fun game, but since I heard about the dangerous package that comes with it, I advise others to stay away from it....

In the same way when I was 12 years old, and me and my friends were playing "Red Rover" (A game where you make two lines and call someone over to your line, and they have to break through the chain your arms make)...When my friend ran into our line, she slipped under our arms and banged her head on the concrete...She had a seizure in my arms and everything after that...and soon later, after being in the hospital for some time, she now suffers from chronic brain damage. There are so many games that are just not safe or fun anymore.

^^^^^^^^ OMG I am so sorry to hear about that...Red Rover was like my favorite game to play when I was little....shoot I always won because my long legs just jumped over everyones arms...thats so scary to hear about

Yeah, thank you it's okay. I mean it was a terrible experience, but you can only learn from experiences...I definately learned to play on the safe side after that. Like you said though, it was a fun game, and I believe my favorite when I was younger also.

But Red Rover is so innocent.

    What a way to go.

That really does make you want to be safer.

I wouldn't like dying from marshmallows, or red rover...

    That's really sad..

The reason the girl died playing the marshmallow game is because the kid's weren't supposed to be playing it and they were scared to get an adult as she was choking. As for her choking I imagine it's because the marshmallows melted as it's been said.
Ugh, Red Rover! I hated that game. Was forced to play it one time in 1st grade even though I was wearing a skirt. When I was chosen, the kids close lined me and my skirt flew up over my head....so embarassing. I guess I should be glad I lived to tell the tale.
