Ok, when I was younger something happened to me, and I developed like an eating disorder. When I'm mad I eat. When I'm sad I eat. When I'm bored, I eat. And this has of course caused me to gain weight, become depressed, and I want this to stop. I'm not like grossly over weight, but don't feel confortable at all. I speed walk 3 miles a day, but really don't know how to lose it all. I want to lose 10 pounds by August. Has anyone here ever lost weight and got a flat stomach?? If yes, how'd you do it?!?! I've been trying forever lately.

wow that sounded just like my mom, so sorry to hear that but girl I really think its in all of us, I mean when I am mad, sad, or bored I eat too!
My mom has lost 60 lbs one time in a very fast amount of time you just have to stick with it..She joined Weight Watchers which helped a lot and did a work out tape every day or every other day ...you should try doing some stomach excersises, I do them a lot and guess what, I have four abs starting to pop out!! ...stick with it and have some good will power, when you want some junk food grab some fruit or a yogurt instead! u can do it!

I use to be very active. Like extreme!! I could eat a whole buffet and gain nothing. Now all I have to do is look at something and BAM.....I weight 10 pounds more. If I smell it....theres 15. lick it, 20. Now if I taste it....whoa momma...30 is one hell of a number.

Well, of course that pound thing isn't true, but does it ever feel true.

Thanks A lot. And trust me, I don't believe those pill things anyway.

Ok, here it is...you can not spot reduce...working out is great, but will not give you a flat stomach.

You have to eat 5 to 6 meals a day, spaced every 2 to 3 hours apart, smaller portions, but more meals though the day will tighten your midsection.

This combined with tranditional Crunches, and Reverse Crunches works great.

Best of luck to you, Joe

You need to get over your depression first of all to start your path to successful weight loss good thing is you have identified when and why you eat...now you need to harness and control that.

secondly you need to do some cardio work - hard workouts like boxercise, aerobics to get your heart beat up and you'll start to notice the results alot quicker than walking.

Also try a better diet, for some ppl its carbs, for others its protein, I suggest you see a professional to see what lifestyle change (i hate the word diet i take it back) best suits you individually and to aid in your weight loss - GOOD LUCK let us know how you go :o)

In agreeance with the Italian Stallion I have heard (stand to be corrected) that you SHOULD eat something small and healthy every 2 - 3 hours because after this period of time your body goes into "starvation" mode...therefore your metabolism slows down and stores whatever nutrients it can - good or bad....

Still professionals are the best way to go :o)

Eating is entertainment, sometimes, but then I play DDR and work off the calories.

Exercise helps, but some athletes I know have big stomaches. Mostly just watch what you eat. Cut down on fast food and snacks. Eat salad (not too much dressing) and fruit. Start the day with a cup of orange juice. Gardening really helps too...and swimming.

Whenever you feel like snacking, make sure you have plenty of fruits around the house so you can look to those instead of junk food. Drink a lot of water (preferably 8 cups a day) and excercise! Joining a local gym can help a lot, because it get's you more motivated to stay fit then if you would have to work out just in your home.

^^^ "make sure you have plenty of fruits around the house so you can look to those instead of junk"
exactly... go 4 the apple instead of the chips, that makes a big difference... also, i take dance class, and yoga... im not saying that this is anything you should try, but going 2 an aerobics class or the gym really helps...
    losts of water...
    good luck
