No one can know for sure things that happened for 2000 years ago..

However, for a jewish man, like Jesus, to not be married would have been very, very strange. I, for one, doubt that he wasn`t involved with some woman, but whether that was maria magdalena or someone else, is even harder to tell:P

I like what Dan Brown has done...

He made us actually check the past to see whether it is true or not.

Let me just say whether Jesus (Issa) was married or not, is not the issue. He is special to us. To me he is a prophet, to you a God.

That is who he is, and for him to be married will and shall not change that fact.

I'm glad someone is questioning- maybe questions need to go a little further and alot more in depth- I'm question 99 percent of the bible- people take it literally and that's a horrible thing. It makes me think 2000 years from now people will look at harry potter as some kind of truth. I'm not putting any ones beliefs down

I really did enjoy reading the book. I have always questioned the bible at certain parts. I'm glad Dan Brown brought up this topic. Why would Jesus not be married when you think about it?

Damn Da Vinci Code! I went to the movies friday for a rally about this to see what it would be like and people are taking such offense to the movie its crazy...I think people who believe in the bible should know Jesus was not married....the bible tells us everything about Jesus but it doesn't say he was married..if it was..I'm sure he'd not be ashamed of and it'd be in there...the producers have already said this movie and book was fiction and not fact..thats all

the book was actaully very good. however we must remember the book IS fiction not fact...same goes for the movie(obviously).

Why wouldn't Jesus have got married? It would be unusual for him not to. And Mary had two more sons (Birth certificates proving it)(Just a bit of useless information)
I'm glad Dan Brown brought this up.

    Topic focus.

    Life focus.

Lets put Jesus the theory out of the light and focus on our lives and the things happening, NOW!.

There....nowhere in the bible do you see Jesus bantering with his friends about whether Dinosaurs existed [snigger....]..why is that do you think?

Becuase he as an enlightened soul wasn't fixated with the past...he was moving forward about his business and he understood the future is the most important thing.

Forget the past, it matters as a reference for mistakes etc....but thats it.

Kevin, if what you say is what stands, then people should not worship the bible. The bible talks about the past constantly, so, in theory, people should not refer back to the bible because it talks about the past.

Believe what you want to believe. But I think that questioning things in the world is who we are...

I agree with Ismail. There is no reason why he shouldn't have had a wife or whatever. Just because there's not written proof of it, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

"if jesus was involved then why dont we hear about it in the bible, or the movies, or even why dont we hear that she was or wasnt at his crucifixion. "

Jesus' crucifixtion was shown in movies, have you never seen "Passion of the Christ"? Mary Magdelane was there in this film. So what you have just stated, Rusty, is not true. There have been films made of Mary Magdelane at his crucifixion. Any questions?

Amen Kim, why don't we stop talking about Jesus and his past!...I DON'T KNOW!!...I really don't...there are more important things...and really...you make a post about it...and nothing in your life changes...you don't think about the world in a different way...the past is the past and it's gone...let it be recorded...but don't argue over it when in this case nothing can be proven either way.

You are still going to have to deal with this time period...and so i suggest we talk about whats going on now..

    Fiction peoples FICTIONAL STORY

Damn people always believing what they read...

  • ღ*KiM*ღ

Eibutsina, we know that it is a fictional story. But there was such a person as Mary Magdelane, and Jesus could have been married, so all we are doing is speculating whether the story could have a glimmer of truth, or whether it is based on true events.

  • Eibutsina

    Kim,
Please do not insult me, I am aware of the story of Christianity I am a very religious person. Your speculation is your downfall as dictated by the author himself Dan Brown on more than several occassion the story is NOT based on true events and merely based on the extensive imagination of the author. Do your research...

  • Chelsey

^^ Dan Brown did say that...but hey...just wanted to add to see how many of you know...did anyone watch that thing on TV about this?

I guess there is another book written called "The Da Vinci Legacy" and that author claims Dan Brown plagarized his work because on several pages Dan Brown has the same things as this other author and he even was specific showing that page 35 are both the same......also that author pointed out that many of Dan Browns dates are wrong as well as other of his statements whether he was portraying it as fiction or not

AND...i just want to know what people think of this because this was a really good point!....When Jesus was on the cross he cried out to his mother Mary and wanted to make sure she was taken care of...now come on...if Jesus was married, wouldn't he have cried out to his wife too? A man proclaiming to be the Son of God would not be afraid, ashamed, or embarassed to have that mentioned in the bible don't you think? Just curious

  • Bret Higgins

One minor point for Bob, if Jesus was married then being with a woman would not have been a sin.

It doesn't matter a whole hill of beans whether he was or wasn't, did or didn't. Half the books of the bible aren't in the bible anyway (read about the gnostic texts and dead sea scrolls).

if jesus was married i will cut my hoohaa off

    ^ don't make promises you can't keep.
