There is a saying "God helps those who help themselves"...

It is true in a way...

God gave us life and "free will" to use it as we see fit. Why should he stop what our so called "brother and sister human beings" have been and are doing...?

People only have faith when something bad has happened in their lives. Basically "faith" is nothing more than a tool to make us secure when we are in a dire situation.

If you believe in God, it is your choice. If you blame him for sitting there and doing nothing. You need to think about it again. God does not lead your life, you do... Give him thanks for giving you that life.

we are primitively evil, just look at the world, :s

OceanSoul: Do we as human beings blame another for our own evils. We polluted the waters, we kill and rape our own and we beat up on other creatures for our own entertainment and amusement.

Why blame someone else for our own actions....If you want to blame "God" then by all means please do. But I think you are only doing that because you in your heart know you are compeletely "POWERLESS". To change what we have made to this world.

I don't see the point of religious arguments. Everybody has their own views, most of which are strong, and nothing will change their mind or their view, so I don't really understand why people argue about religion if they know nothing is going to come of it, and that it will lead you back into a big circle.
For example, I know Ismail puts up a strong debate when it comes to religion, no offence meant by that Ismail, why is somebody else going to change his mind? It's his beliefs which he believes strongly in, and nothing is going to change that.
I've gone off point .. Well anyway. I don't see why we have so many religious arguements when it leads to arguement and disagreement.

I completely agree with Kim- religious arguments go no where- it's mere opinions because fact is no one truly knows- and I'm not dismissing anyones religion- but FACT of the matter- no one can present solid proof of an existence of a God- or prove there is no God. So if you are simply stating your opinion- have fun- but don't present as fact that just starts pety arguments and yet another reason for division. So let's agree to disagree and be happy about it!

Kim: I wasn't paused by that comment.

You are right no body is going to change my mind. But if you read my post, you would see that my comment was not at all bias to religion. I was just stating the obvious, on why God would not help. And how it is sad to rely so much on someone else. Blaming an immortal being for what as you can see another man's crime. Truly I find that sad

Oh that wasn't based on your previous post, just about your views in general. But yes I agree with your point made.

~ There may have been a reason that your prayers haven't been answered. What we want, isn't always whats right. We have to trust that God will make the right decesions, and make them at the right time. There is a song by Garth Brooks that might help you out...
    UNANSWERED PRAYERS

Just the other night, at a hometown football game,
My wife and I ran into my old highschool flame.
And as I introduced them, the past came back to me, and I couldn't help but think of
the way things used to be.
She was the one that I'd wanted for all times,
And each night I'd spend prayin' that God would make her mine.
And if he'd only grant me this wish I'd wished back then, I'd never ask for anything again.

    Sometimes I thank God
for unanswered prayers, remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs,
that just because he may not anwser,
    doesn't mean he don't care.
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers...

The rest of the lyrics are really good too, I just don't feel like typing them all. You should look them up though. I hope I've helped you. Even if you turn your back on God, he will NEVER turn his back on you.
    God Bless You

well, if you want god in song lyrics.................
    so is this one

"wake up and face reality, realize there is no god, wake up, open your eyes, no paradise on the other side"
    no god by terminal choice

if you turn your back to god, he'll screw you
if you don't, you're just as screwed

To be honest, I couldn't care less. Come what may, what ever happens, will happen in due time.

I'm not wasting my time believing in whether or not there is a "God" or whatever you people would call him. Not to be insulting anyones religious beliefs here. This is all in my OWN opinion, and simply my outlook on the subject. Nothing more, nothing less.

Stay out of organized religion, and believe in whatever your heart tells you...don`t let the church tell you what is right and what is wrong.

Don`t take the bible for more than what it is: a work of men, and mankind is, according to religion, sinners...don`t believe in everything they tell you...

But, as I said, believe in what you feel is right.

What I find extremely funny is that those who claim "God" does not exist, must have in some ways called out to him, in some stage in their life. Seeing as he did not answer like the rest of us? Angered, they protest there is no God.

It is too common and too childish if you ask me.

It is fine if you don't believe in a God, Heck, you all have your own reasons. But if you want to protest to the world and mock religion to those who desperately need it and to the innocence to those who believe in a supreme being. Then who are we to contradict it.

As they say "You believe what you want to believe, we will believe what we want to believe"

Some days I sit and think- the bible is nothing but a novel- a great novel- well thought out- with stories that blow the mind- but today, like many other days I believe- there is something bigger- because we all have purpose, we all have a reason to be here- down to lizards we all have reason on earth, and so I believe there is a God- but I admitt I feel like a lab rat when I realize there is something bigger, something stronger, something smarter- because of poverty and war, and rape and hate, and just mean people- I feel as if God is not so good right now, because of obvious circumstance (look at our world right now)- I don't believe that Jesus is the son of God, and I don't know if his mothers name was Mary- and I don't believe that a virgin gave birth to a child, or that the earth was created in 7 days- I'm going a bit off topic but whatever- but yeah regardless of what we believe- we are certain of life on earth- and we don't know why we are here, and how we got here, but all we have is each other- our fellow human beings and nature- and religion- something that is suppose to signify love and unity- just divides us and causes people to cast words of hate-and is completely without purpose to have discussion after discussion about religion because we don't know- stop presenting opinions as fact the white house and our government is doing enough of that- and just agree to disagree as I said earlier

Angelina: You actually have no right to begin with, to contradict another’s belief. Why? Because it is whom they chose to believe, and you giving them your “reality check” isn’t going to help the matter…Now is it? What will you gain by saying or shouting out loud “God does not exist”…Hmm?

Nothing that’s what, you say God is a sadistic creature…Why? Because of all the harm we cause and death we have caused is all under his name. Umm…Excuse me while I laugh at the very thought of it…Ha Ha Ha Ha.

    Let me ask you this:

Did God tell us to kill and rape our own kind?
Did he tell us personally to cause the wars and destroy families?

Why would he stop a bunch of individuals hoping to gain the “elusive” power by destroying their own kind?

You have complete control of your own life, and you can do whatever you see fit. Why would you waste that time telling the world that God does not exist?

He may or he may not exist, who knows? But I don’t think he should get the blame for something our own kind is solely responsible of doing. That would be the coward’s way out!

God is existing but untouchable. We only need to believe, although we could not feel and touch.
I myself believe every body has his own protective spirit (ghost?) who protects you when are facing danger. I believe St. Mary (Holly Mother) is my protective saint besides me, because i have been saved twice when I was in the dangerous accident twice in my childhood and youth.

God is a personal thing, intertwined with ones faith and hope and sense of belief...
I'm sure God, or whom ever it be that your faith lies in has helped you along the way you merely havent opened your eyes to see it or your lessons are still being learnt. I hope you do not loose your faith but I understand your curiosity and doubt...can you pin point where it started? Maybe if you can from there you can look back and analyse what happened to your faith and make an informed decision as to where to go from here on end...Good Luck :o)

God isn't really sadistic for 'allowing' bad things to happen.

He gave us free will because it is better for us than blind servitude. It forces us to be responsible for our own actions.

God is...if you don't mind the example...more like Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka.

He's the guy in charge who made everything and provides assistance to those in need who desire it. He punishes those who fall victim to those so-called devices of Satan.

and his lack of listening is less out of sadism, but more out of learned experience to not get too involved in the problems of others.

You might call it pretentiousness, in a person, who behaves in such a way. certainly. but, there are a lot of people I would forgive of pretension too because it's validated. so then it's not merely pretension, but simple arrogance. which, as long as it doesn't harm any one else, is okay too.

Being confortable with that, your own, and other people's arrogance, I think is part of understanding God.

but, of course I have some understanding of God, as I have recently been told that I have the heart of a director.lol.

I think that believing in something can bring you a lot further in life. It will give you a more positve out look on life... something more to look forward to living to. Becuase religion tells you so many things, "You will have everlasting life if you do this" And so on and so on. It gives you the extra strength.

But I am ATHIEST. It might throw people off. They think I believe in the devil, but I don't... in fact, I don't believe in anything...

But being Athiest, I also have something to look forward to in the future. What happens when I die? It keeps me guessing each day.

Religion fights are horrible. I just wish everyone would just stick to it, and let people belive what they believe instead of trying to preach it to the world and shove it down peoples throats or say, "Your going to hell if you don't!" I grew up with that. And now I just have the freedom to think whatever I want to think... and its a great feeling.
