dont get me wrong, i'm a huge a fire inside fan. I love their old cd's. i like their new song too, "ms. murder". but after seeing it constantly on mtv and the mtv movie awards, i have to wonder, are they selling out to MTV and the pop culture world? shout out and let me know what you think.

It's a tragedy when good bands go commercial. MCR and MSI were all once underground bands, then sold out to the MTV life. I want a band to play good music cuz they like it, not cuz they wanna be rich in famous. y'know??

and about AFI. They're the same as the other bands. talented, creative, original, and sadly commercial..

I think it's really difficult for people to comprehend the difference between 'selling out' and just becoming more popular - they've always been mainstream.

Back when 'Answer That And Stay Fashionable', they weren't as widely known - well, infact, they only really started becoming popular in the days of 'The Art Of Drowning - maybe even 'Sing The Sorrow'. I remember 'Girls Not Grey' was playing on the radio quite frequently, and it was on MTV2 at least twice a day.
A lot of people said they were 'selling out' then. I never thought so. They songs were as good as they'd always been - they'd just become more commercial, which, if we're fair, is a great thing for them. Every band would love their music to reach a bigger audience.

Miss Murder is a weak song, but until I've heard the new album (which I will probably never do, not being so much of a fan these days), I can't say for sure - but I doubt they truely have sold out. They hadn't done when it'd be questioned before - why choose to now.

thank you kara. i can sleep soundly tonight :P j/k. i just have a strange feeling when i see Miss Murder being played along side with "ridin dirty" and "unfaithful". and this wasnt their most hardcore song. i think they might have toned it down a notch to get the song on MTV. oh well, when all is said and done... Jade is still the hottest guitar player alive....

Ahah Jade'shot but I hate his side burns or what ever they are 0.o

    Anyways..

I was thinking about posting something like this a while back..

Some people I have talked to think they are selling out, others think they are still as good as ever.

I don't really know, I loved them then and still love them now.

I agree with the "More comercial" way of thinking and i don't eally think they have sold out..

It is really sad to see how many bands sold out to MTV. It use to tick me off because all of a sudden, you'd see all these people going around saying "dude, I've always loved that band" when in truth they never heard of it, till it reached MTV.

But i'm fine with it now. I don't really mind if they sell out to MTV or not, as long as they keep playing the music the way they did. Sadly though, it doesn't really happen. Those bands still play amazing music but it's not always the same.

But you can't really blame them for going commercial. I mean if they had the oppurtunity to be more rich and famous, who wouldn't take it? It gets their music out more.

AFI, what can I say? That band is just amazing. Personally, I love Miss Murder, even though it does seem like its been toned down a bit for MTV.

Though their old cd's kick a**. I love their lyrics. And as the person above^ said, Jade is hawt. woot! lol.
