    Hi-

I'm in the process of writing a book. I need 50 poems that deal with custody and divorce to include in my book. The focus of this book will mostly be on the children affected by this painful process. I'm hopeful that my book will help others to stop and reflect on the decisions we as parents make and how it affects the children involved.

The title of my book will be called, "Mommy, when will it end". This poem is about my 7 year-old daughter. You can find it in the "Friends... Family" section on this website.

Have any poems I could consider for my book? Please share!

    Hi there-

I just read "Sibling Rivalry or Something Else"? Oh goodness. I could analize that one to death. What tremendous pain is captured in that poem. Beautiful job!

I am sorry you are still dealing with your parents divorce. It's so, so, tough and most certainly not fair at all.

I would LOVE to read the serious you have regarding this process. I'll e-mail you soon!

    Hang in there, okay???

    "Miss Fortune"

a bit farcical, fable-like, about a woman that is trapped in a dysfunctional marriage, based 'loosely' on my mom.

she finally filed for divorce a couple weeks ago.

me and my brother are both adults now though, so no custody battle is necessary.

I read your poem. Goodness. So sad one would go through most of their life such as that. However, it's never too late to move on to a new, more healthy faze in life. Isn't that so?

That poem could have been written about my mom as well. Except it wouldn't have been based "loosely" on her life. It would have been pretty darn factual. My parents divorced last year after nearly 40 years of marriage. My mom is discovering a whole new "her". Go mom! Is that how it is with your mom as well?

Thanks so much for sharing. Fabulous job! I need more time to think about whether or not it will be included in the book. I'm headed more in the direction of how divorce affects the young innocent children involved.

    Thanks again,

    ~Shannon

Yeah, she was in this some like 30 year marriage of the cycle of abuse that comes from marrying genius rich Republican alcoholics. so, yeah...I'm kind of not on the "Go mom" discovering a whole new her...um...it's disturbing. I don't want to know...la,la,la,la,la,la,la!

I don't write poetry about my feelings on the subject. I just vent. writing poetry would trivialize it, I think. I got a bunch of poems about my relationship (or lack thereof) with my dad though...

her friend has a son that is 14 and his parents are going through it too. he failed most of his classes his freshman year. so, yeah, he's been taking it pretty hard.

    Oh, so sad.

I have to say the "genius rich Republican alcoholics" line cracked me up! My ex... maybe... he's your mom's ex's brother?

I wrote a poem titled "Money he chooses first" you should read. It's a really sad reality poem of my 8-year old daughter's father.

I do get the "I'm kind of not on the "Go mom" discovering a whole new her" thing. I am so happy my mom has the opportunity to discover her new self and yet... not sure about who she is anymore.

    Okay, thanks again... ~S
