what influences us to write?

some things like music influences me to write my poems...i tend to write depressing love poems. i ant find anything that influences me to write upbeat lively poems because the words just dont flow. has anyone got any tips on what influences them to write the things they do and how they write it...whether they have any special techniques or advice. i would be very grateful.

i usually write friendship poems because my friends mean the world to me. And whenever I have an argument with my best friend I release my feelings on paper.

Sometimes other poets. I was reading Shel Silverstein's book "Where the Sidewalk Ends" and now I can't write anything else be humorous poetry. Sometimes, I'll be reading some of the poetry that's on this site and get inspired to write.

rading some poetry on here influences me too! but when it comes to writing i just get stuck in my head i know what i want to write but it doesnt come out right and i often just give up.

Don't give up. just keep plugging away and one day you'll totally amaze yourself.
