Grrrr OK I have been laying in bed for an hour and a half, and just can not get to sleep and it's doing my head in. I didn't get any sleep last night either.. It's nearly 6am here right now and I was so tired when I got into bed, but as soon as the lights went out and the TV went off, that was it, my brain went into overdrive *doh.. Although I have plenty of ideas going through my head right now for different poems, I can't get them down on paper because everything is muddled *doh. |

Last night wasn't one, but I've had a few nights of rough shallow sleep. I feel like I woke up at least five times, (during 6 hours of sleep) and my dreams weren't even dreams, they were me trying to sleep and dream. It's horrible when you weak up with a mindsplitting forced dream, leave your head feeling all weird and jammed together. |

I honestly think this is what I am going through as well. I normally go to bed at 3 am and I am still not able to sleep. I lay in bed for hours, I get maybe 3 hours. It is terrible. I started taking gravol to sleep, but I don't want to start relying on them. So, I stopped 1 month ago. I haven't slept, but feel good that I haven't gave in to drugs. I don't ever want to rely on them, EVER! |

Yeah, I get the same. I can't sleep, so then I wake up REALLY late, say, eleven thirty, or noon, because once I do sleep, it takes about seven hundred alarm clocks to wake me. Today I managed to wake up at 11.00 a.m., but that was a real achievement. |

Try not watching tv or going on the computer for at least an hour or two before you go to bed. Go for a walk, and then read when you get in bed, lying down, for about 20 mins with a soft light. That usually works for me :) |

You could try this backward blinkng thing. You get comfy, like you're completely ready to go to sleep, and the only thing keeping you up is your mind. Then, once you close your eyes, you keep them closed for only five or so seconds, then open them just long enough to focus on something, then close them again. Keep doing this. If you are actually tired, but just can't get your mind sleepy, its a good way to slow your thinking down. And since you are focusing on the opening/shutting you don't worry about going to sleep as much. It's actually used for meditation to put you in a trance but that won't work unless you concentrate on staying awake lol. Good luck. |
