Last night a few of my friends and I were driving, and in front of my car I see this dog just running across the street. I slammed on my brakes, got out of my car and tried to get the dog. This dog must have been an abused dog or something because he had complete fear of humans. Well, this little dog took me for a run for about 5 blocks...busy streets, he's just crossing without looking and I'm trying to make sure the cars see him..."If they see me, they'll stop, a human is much easier to spot than a tiny black dog in middle of the night"....I did everything...But out of nowhere...he completely just ran on a busy street...missed the car in the first lane, but the car in the second lane didn't see him...and I saw the whole thing...Him getting hit by the first car....then I closed my eyes and started to yell, waiting for the next car to hit him cause he is crying...thank God it only took a second or two for the second car to hit him...At least he didn't lay there suffering, because the first car, a white mini van, hit him to the point where I thought he would've died, but he was crying...I cried my eyes out all night...I'm still so pissed off that I couldn't save him....The scene keeps happening in my head over and over again and I keep remembering the dog and thinking "Why was he on the streets" "How did he run away" "Was he an abused dog" It just sucks cause it's an animal, they can't speak or explain what's going on...it's up to us as humans to take care of them, to watch out for them. I'm just soo bummed out... |

I wasn't literally chasing him! I was following him...He would've been hit 3 times if the cars had not seen me and then stopped and saw him...I was running on the side walk almost on the street so he wouldn't run towards the busy streets, to stay in residental areas...Because like I said he feared humans and he would go the opposite direction of us...The only reason why he got hit was because this one car stopped for him as well but the driver got out to "help" and went around and made a U turn came back, got out of his car and ran towards this dog....well I was trying to keep a fair distance so he doesn't run too much...So he gets out and he's running and I yelled at the driver to not yell at the dog because he will run on the street...By the time everything could be done this dog just ran the opposite direction towards me...and on the busy street, and nothing could be done because I didn't want to harm any drivers by running on the street and maybe even getting someone killed or getting myself killed...because the traffic flowing our way at average 45-50 MPH.... |

I don't want to sound rude, but I'm not blaming myself...It's just sad for anyone to have to see that, it's also upsetting and heart-breaking...y'know? :-/ |
