Ok if you're catholic you'd know what I'm talking about. Well when you turn about 17 or 18 a catholic has to do Confermation. It's when you develope your Catholic religon. or something like that.but I don't want to be Catholic manily because I was raised Bathist for a very long time. But I have a problem, my grand-parents are MAKING me Confirm, when it's a choice that only I can make and I don't have to. Will someone please set me straight what Confermation is and will someone please help me with this problem!?

well i'm catholic and in our church we get confirmed when we're like 14 or 15 ( i;m 14 so i'm preparing right now) i know its different in other churches so it doesn't really matter
anyway i've been listening to other people in my confirmation class and some of them are just like well i'm just getting confirmed to make my parents happy
and i know it's a bad thought but i kind of feel the same way

to answer your question about what confirmation is, it's basically extending your baptism
you just get to walk up to the bishop and have him annoint you
you get confirmed to have the holy spirit within you
since when your baptised, someone else says you want to be a part of this religion and believe in god, then you have confirmation in highschool ti prove that you believe in god because in high school you are old enough to know what you believe in and make your own decisions

i personally think it would be great if you made your confirmation since it helps your faith and it makes your parents (or in your case grandparents happy)
but like he said no one is forcing you
if you aren't ready to make your confirmation right now, that's fine, but if you change your mind later on in life then it won't be too late
you can make confirmation anytime in life
    but i hope i helped
    just think about it

You should do what makes you feel good about yourself. You shouldn't do something just to make someone else happy. So if you don't want to be confirmed then you need to tell your grandparents and the priest this.Doing things to please someone else is a croc of shit.(sorry for the swearing) If someone told you to jump off a cliff would you?

well i like the catholic faith but i understand if you don't
if you don't want to be confirmed, nobody is making you and your grandparents shouldn't be making choices for you
just do whatever you think is best, cus in the end its yur decision

Slavery? Last time i checked there was no law that said people had to go to church. Its an act of obiedence. We have a choice every Sunday to go to church. That's all Christianity is anyway a choice. Choose to obey God or not to obey Him. I choose to obey Him. No one tells me that if i don't go to church then i'll go to jail. However, if you don't go to school and learn what the world thinks you should learn then your parents can go to jail. Hmmm...have fun in having no choice to confirm to slavery.

Confirmation, besides being one of the sacramens necesary for salvation, also provides Catholics with other benefits. Supposdly Confirmation incorporates Catholics more firmly into Christ but the Bible teaches no such doctrine. According to God's Word you are either in Christ or you are not. Being more firmly incorporated into Christ is never taught(2Corinthians 5:17).Once you are born into God's family there is no person or thing that can remove you from it(Romans 8:38-39). A child of God does not need to be more firmly incorporated into Christ(Romans 8:1;Ephesians 2:13)Another supposd benefit of Confirmation is that Confirmation, like Baptism, imprints a spiritual mark on the Christian's soul. You can search the Bible, but you will not read about the imprinting of spiritual marks on a Christian's souls.Confirmation is not in the Bible because it's a tradition of men... a life-long tradtion that is to be performed up until the last moment of a Catholic's life. The practical result is that this ritual brings people into deeper bondage to the Catholic church but why would anyone need or want to be bound to the rules of the Catholic church consideing that Jesus came to set people free(John 8:36;Galatians 5:1)?

Is the man-made Roman Catholic tradition of Confirmation necessary for salvation?God's Holy Word emphatically states, "No! The Catholic church disregards the Bible and insists that it is.

Who will you believe... the Word of God, or the commandments of men(Matthew 15:9)?

The Catholic church does not disregard the Bible.
Confirmation is the sacrament in through which the Holy Spirit comes to us in a special way and enables us to profess our faith as strong Christians.
We believe that Confirmation is helpful for salvation, yet not necessary.
I know many Catholics who have chosen not to make their Confirmation.
Catholics are encouraged not to neglect Confirmation, but it is a choice.
We just believe it brings us closer to God and helps us to defend our faith through the Holy Spirit.
How can it hurt to be closer to God?
You can be a part of God's family, but if you don't pray and have a relationship with God, then your religion doesn't help you.
You can be a part of your Church, but if you don't actively participate then you aren't helped.

We interpret the Bible the same way everyone else does.
and how do we suppress women?
How could our church have done far more damage than we have salvaged souls when our church is the only church started by Christ himself?

sluvious. Where do you confirm facts on salvaged souls?
What race does the catholic church treat differently?
93% of Mexicans profess to be catholic

Down here in the southern bible belt catholics are in the minority but if you attended a service here you might be surprized to see that the catholic church has members of all races in the same biulding

For the most part the protestant churches are more segregated

The Catholic Church is not only the largest Christian Church, but also the largest organized body of any world religion

: sluvious I respect your creator, but I have not seen any evidence that the Pope was involved in a cover up.
Objectively anyone can prove that the Pope is the head of the Catholic Church, which is believed by Catholics to be the mystical body of Christ. Anyone that expresses the wish, desire, or hope of the damnation any soul does not reflect any teaching of Christ that I am aware of. Surely a character of your origin realizes the significance of a title. When Jesus turned to his disciple Simon, and gave him a new name, which means rock as He said you are Peter and upon this rock I will build my church WHAT DO YOU SUPPOSE HE WAS TALKING ABOUT?

    edit

How many children were molested by catholic priest's,?
I am not going to make it seem that any number would be acceptable
“Some media sources have noted that when placed in perspective, the documented cases in the Catholic Church are much lower than incidents of pedophilia in the public school system. For the latter, the problem is over three times higher (up to 5% of American teachers, versus estimates of 0.2% and 1.5% of Catholic priests), and only an estimated 1% of pedophile teachers have faced the loss of their license since most are merely moved to other districts. The police are rarely notified.

The solution to the secular problem would not be to destroy the public school system, but to reform it
I believe the churches are in need of reform also

When I researched my ancestors I discovered they usually baptized and confirmed their slaves.

By the time the Pope condemned the practice of slavery the slaves had already begun their emancipation and their long struggle for civil rights

In the history of the KKK I am not aware of any catholic members recorded in this terrorist organization. Catholic members I suspect they were as rare as African Americans and other racial minorities belonging to an organization opposed to them
“Ku Klux Klan (KKK) is the name of a number of past and present fraternal organizations in the United States that have advocated white supremacy, anti-Semitism, racism, anti-Catholicism, homophobia, and nativism. These organizations have often used terrorism, violence and acts of intimidation such as cross burnings to oppress African Americans and others”

    Comfirmation

“In the Western Church the sacrament is usually administered by the bishop. At the beginning of the ceremony there is a general imposition of hands, the bishop meantime praying that the Holy Ghost may come down upon those who have already been regenerated: "send forth upon them thy sevenfold Spirit the Holy Paraclete." He then anoints the forehead of each with chrism saying: "I sign thee with the sign of the cross and confirm thee with the chrism of salvation, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost." Finally. he gives each a slight blow on the cheek saying: "peace be with thee". A prayer is added that the Holy Spirit may dwell in the hearts of those who have been confirmed, and the rite closes with the bishop's blessing”
