Votes and Comments

How about a programming change that requires a comment to go with a vote that is less than a 3. Habitually, if someone is in the top five vote getters in a particular category, they get voted down quickly, no matter how good the poem and how many good votes and comments they have.

By forcing someone who is voting a one or two to leave their name and a comment, it removes the anonimity of driving down someones average, for no apparent reason. Lets face it, if you think a poem sucks, you should be able to offer some constructive criticism, rather than just vote a 1 and go off to do the same for vote a 5 for one of your online buddies. In fact, if you had to comment, in order to vote, it would enhance the site overall.

That would be great, but what about those that are rated a 5 for no reason.

I think that if you are going to vote then you should first comment no matter the score that you are leaving.

How about getting rid of the stupid voting system? that would be great! I could care less about a 5 or a 1 if you comment and tell me what I did right and wrong.

That would be great, but for the past year or so since I have been here, that hasn't been the most popular idea. So I tried to make the best of both worlds.

I understood your point Bill, and appreciated it, but every 6 months or so I try to get rid of the voting system, always falling on blind eyes might I add. Of course this is also the site that thought a chat room was a good thing, and I think most of us know what has happened with that bright idea.

I think it is a good Idea personally, I believe we the Mods have actually disscused it before, but I don't remember I could be wrong.

I will run it by Dainz and the others and see what they think.

I think that is the point of some of us Jess, we don`t care about votes. But that is O.k., it`s just an opinion, I would rather have 100 comments than 100 votes, but that is just me.

Why bother voting low and adding a comment? I guess some peoples lives are just that low they get jealous over other peoples work and have to down vote them.. -sigh-

Votes do ot help a person grow as a writer. I have felt for a long time that the voting system here is just another popularity contest.

I say good riddens to the votes and hello to all comments..

This is an amazing idea, Bill. I am absolutely tired of my poems getting downvoted; if they were to tell me why, and it really did suck, though, I wouldn't care.

I really hope they can figure out how to do this...
