Amazing. Just like you said, it it is easily readable even though it's completely garbled. Also you didn't exactly say so but you did imply that the words do need to contain the right number of letters.

The idea of recognizing entire words is the principle on which speed reading is based, but it is taken a few steps further. The next step is, instead of a word at a time, a full line at a time and then a complete paragraph. Of course it takes a lot of practice and concentration to get to that level.
