Reporting physical abuse?

If you report physical abuse coming from a sibling, what happens?

My brother was chasing me around with a knife today, and he keeps on hitting me, I have bruises everywhere. I'm starting to get a tad scared.

You need to report it to the police. You may be scared, but it's the only way to keep him from hurting you anymore. I know what its like. My dad did the same to me.

Even though it's family, its worse if it is! A total stranger is bad enough but someone who is supposed to love you? Don't take it hun, make sure you get it sorted right away!

Where I live theres an organization called D.Y.F.S
(division of youth and family services) you can call them or a similar org. But first I would suggest you talk to your parents if they are not aware of this. maybe they can put a stop to it without involving others. D.Y.F.S can arrange for him to talk to a counselor or other professionals that can help,their goal is to keep familys together while protecting you.

WEll first...tell your parents...if they don't believe you prove it to them....if they still dont believe you go to the police.........i would b scared to death if my bro did tht to me......

you definately need to tell someone hun. He may be your brother but he's obviously going through something too if he's doing this. Help him and yourself by getting help.

u need to tell somebody u trust. Its happend 2 my best friend. She didnt tell anyone until the point where he thought it was ok?!? she told somebody and now even tho his family his moved out. Hun belive me its a good choice to tell a trusted friend or adult.

I'd definately tell someone if you think its serious..do you think he's joking around with you and not knowing how bad it hurts you..or is he hurting you intentionally? have you tried to talk to him?

i think you should tell maybe a school counciler how old is ur lil brother???if hes leavin marks you need to get someone to confront him before it gets out of control....also what happens usually the first time the police warn ya the 2nd they might send him to a fascility to get help...it depends on the police and the judge
