Helloness! So here's the thang, I have to read a novel by a contemporary author for my AP English class && I have been putting it off for quite some time because I have been terribly busy. So... can any one reccomend a good book that I can read, that wont take too horribly long? I would appreciate it so much. Thank Ums.

Is contemporary another word for like, new?

If yes then A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. My absolute Favorite book

^ It's amazing!! What book of hers are you reading? I'd start with AGATB because there is a sequel called Rebel Angels, and if you read the sequel first it just won't make sense... so make SURE that you read A Great and Terrible Beauty FIRST!!

hehe I'm kind of crazy about her books.. well ok, books in general xD

I'm a fan of the Golden Compass by Philip Pullman. Techinically "young adults" reading, but about 20 times deeper than any harry potter you're going to find. It's a little longish, must be in the 300's, but reads quickly.

Oh, sidenote, if you're not in the U.S., it might be called "Northern Lights."

And another sidenote, A Great and T... etc. is pretty good too.

    Lauren!!

Haha, I'm so glad there's another one out there. I just got the books in a box set for Christmas from my wonderful friend. I think he was offended by them, because of the religion stuff, but he gave them to me anyway ; ). And! I'm reading Twilight right now. it's sitting in front of me, and it's intoxicating. If that makes sense.

    Also, xbeyond_helpx,

I loved the Alchemist. Came at a really good point in my life.

    I love books...
