here's my opinion on punsihment:

to teach people a lesson, I think that the punishment for everything, or every crime, should be the death penalty. yeah, you heard me right. otherwise, nobody will ever really stop their crimes. They steal, get 2 months in jail and say, "hey, only 2 months? maybe i should steal more things."
it's true, is it not?
if you rape someone, you should be hanged. no matter what you do. if people realize that molesting/raping/killing/beating/hurting/or stealing from/to someone else can get you hung or the death penalty, then they will realize it's totally not worth the risk, and maybe crime will be reduced, maybe even by 40%.

Well let's say a child accidently takes something from a store, though it's an accident it is still considered stealing. By your opinion it means they should be put to death.

if an innocent child takes something without knowing, then obviously that will go into consideration.
and of course you will need proof of the crime.

Melanie, obviously you haven't had a loved one that has ever been incarserated (sp??)! I mean what if they were wrongly accused or they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time! I somewhat see what you are saying about chold molesters but not really. I truly think that your views would be different if you have had a loved one in a situation like that. My cousin was just at the wrong place at the wrong time and it was his friends doing the crime and he didn't even want to be there and he got 8 years for it! Now you probably think well my cousin or my family isnt stupid like that well no one is perfect and what you are saying is COMPLETELY wrong and out of line!

that made me think a little. I had an ex-uncle who went to jail for something he deserved. But then when I think about it, being killed for DWI? ecspecially when you're just a teenager and were out partying late? (i'm not referring to my ex-uncle)
it's a little harsh. I feel like most people here have judged me on my first post, which isn't right. Don't judge me on my opinions. I've totally altered my opinions on punishment, and after hearing these good arguments, I think it's ridiculous to have the death penalty for everything.

Two wrongs never make a right, not only by killing

someone for stealing something is sinking to their

level its going much further under.

capital punishment is an unfair punishment, most of

the time it's not their fault that they are so skrewed

up that they break the law... they could be the way

they are from how they were raised, to the places

they were raised in, or it could be for survival, or a

mental disorder. Sure for all the perverted rapists,

molesters and pedophiles i wish for them to be

castrated, but sometimes we forget that there is a

human soul somewhere down there... people who

offend are judged by the law today and if you

question it then take it up with the judge. I dont

way. and i do prey for all the vicims of mercilous

crimes and i wish it were different i wish there

was no war, and no profanity, and no violence,

go out and watch two movies, one 'hard candy' its

about a man who gets his come-uppens and

then 'green mile' its probably one of the best

movies that intensifies the flaws in the justice

system when it uses capital punishment!!!
