If you enjoy helping people then the satisfaction of helping them should be all you need. You cant expect those you help to return anything back for what you have done, you are doing this of your own volition in an attempt to help others. I admit it would be nice to get at least a thank you in return, but if you are helping these people concentrate on the fact that you are doing a good deed for society, that makes you a better person. Isn't that all you really need?
