Imagine This. . . .

Imagine if the whole world suddenly at the same precise moment got amnesia. . . . So they could remember nothing from their past.

Well I was thinking of writing not so much a story but a series of short ones depicting how this would effect lives. . .

In a way you would become a child again as you would have no past experiences. . . I just wondered if you guys had some ideas really. . .

Like people in an previously abusive relationship would be freed . . . I dunno. . . . any ideas?

Good question. I don't really think this can be explained by someone who hasen't experienced this. Im not sure, really.

I've never heard of amnesia before... but do people affected forget absolutely everything, like speech and who they are and how to walk and how to do everything like that? It sounds a very complicated issue but good luck, and I would love to see what you end up with

This could effect the world and the way everything goes on the planet on two ways, positive or negative, of course. Because when you forget everything, you'd have problems with making sure you have everything you need to fulfill your way of living and to maintain that as well. On the other hand, a positive effect could be that, as an example, wars and stuff would be ended because no one would remember starting them. On the other hand, don't you think that there would eventually come new wars? Because after all there's a bit of evil in each human being.. :) This is a subject that provokes a lot of thinking, i love it! nice question you asked here. :)

I know that although you forget everything sometimes motor functions reamin becasue they are in a different part of the brain. . .For example you would remember how to walk eat and even play the piano. . but not remember learning it. . .well this is the case with a guy called clive wearing, but he has only lost short term memory not long term and that was because of a virus. . . I dunno thats not really related to amnesia is it?? Plus he can't make new memories either so he kinda lives on the moment literally. . .

    Any more ideas??

Thats fascinating...but in a way i think it would start the whole world from where it began. i mean, would anything really change?

Plus really although nobody would remember anything things are really well documented these days. . . so all you woule have to do is read about it. . .I was thinking that maybe systems of government would be challenged as no one would remember why the presedent, prim minister or even king got to be in power

We'd lose are civility and not know what's right or wrong just like kids. Of course a man acting like that could be a lot more dangerous.

Also, you should have different main charecters in each chapter and different stories between them all and sometime a couple of them meet up and then eventually they all meet up.

If we all forgot everything at the same time the world would virtually shut down. No one would have work. We would regress. While there would be no evil do to the memory loss, there would also be no good. Nothing would happen. Life would cease to exist after a period of many years. That would be a weird experience....whoa. Thats a great idea for short stories. Good luck.

It'd be like the apocalypse really. Cars crashing, planes diving into the ground, armies who don't know how to use there weapons. Those are just some of the bad parts of forgetting how to do things.
