Hmmmm. "Whites have NOT had to overcome..." Yeah, maybe not for the last hundred years or so. But there has been prejudice against European ethnic groups in America before, too. I'm thinking of the Irish, in the 18 and 1900's. They were minorities looked down on my the people "already here" for decades, especially in urban areas Maybe that's why Irish Americans still have strong links to their heritage? Or maybe it's just because Ireland rocks. (Erin go Braugh!)

Fact is, the Irish had an easier time eventually "blending in" to the existing social classes in America. African Americans, due to their skin color, did not have that luxury. There has always been prejudice against newcomers by the established crowds. Europeans came to America in groups, and were looked down on. Then, when they became established, they celebrated their status of members of the "in crowd" by looking down on whatever newcomers followed them. It's unfortunate.

So many people need an education it is scary. what do they teach in highschool nowadays anyways. People please Spend some time on Wikipedia. We know you have the internet, so go there and read. Hopefully it will help take away the ignorance, then hopefully the arrogance falls as well, and soon, maybe if you truly take this advice with an open mind, so will the judgments and hatred of others.

P.S. This is especially for those of you who disagreed with Bob and a few others on here who spoke some sense.

Thank you for listening. This message has been brought to you by your local open-minded P&Q adults.

Cory, i'm all for you bud and i'm behind you, but some people don't want to learn. they think they're all that and nothing's gonna move them. i'm talking about individuals not a race.

Ok while I do agree with your viewpoint Cory, it's not fair to insult people's intelligence for having a certain belief due to the poor experiences they have had. Just because someone generalizes an entire race based a few run-ins they've had does not mean they're lacking from an education. Keep in mind that a lot of people here are also still in high school.

"Just because someone generalizes an entire race based a few run-ins they've had does not mean they're lacking from an education."

^If that doesn't show that they're lacking, what does?

"We are all related, not in God's eyes"

^ that phrase bothers me, sorry. But we are all related in God's eyes. He is our father....all of us.

I agree with the original message...for the most part. Because I think it's mostly United Staters that get accused of being racist compared to the rest of the "White" population.

Yes, and I think good education would enlighten them. I think we're just having a problem with the definition of education : )

If nothing else this thread taught me something about hate. If its not in the form of racism, it will be hate of people with different opinions. There is no right opinion. "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." --- I think more people should live by that. Perhaps if people were more tolerant of others opinions, hate, such as racism, would not be as prevalent.

  • Cory Mastrandrea

And sometimes Icarus, opinions are flat out wrong. When those wrong opinions start to spread, someone needs to educate people with the truth.

  • Cory Mastrandrea

I want to take this post back to the original post and go through these points one by one so I can show you how the original opinions were wrong.

You call me, "redneck" ,"hillbilly", "slaker" , "Cracker", "Honkey", "Whitey", "Gringo" and you think it's OK.---I never said it was ok. So the choice of using the word "you" is wrong. WE are on a poetry site; we should know how to write correctly and only incriminate those we meant to.

...But when I call you porch monkey, coon, jiggaboo, Kike, sand nigger, rag head ,Towelhead, WOP, Camel Jockey, Gook, slant eyes or Chink you call me a racist. Yes, racist, these are racist terms. What possible contexts would you be using them, other than being racist, outside of maybe joking with a friend.

-You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you, so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live? I never said that, Again stop with the you. I don't want to be included in your ignorance. Also, Who said ghettos are thet most dangerous places to live. Please. Go study up and find out about the cities with the highest crime rate. I'm pretty sure Miami has been in the top 5 for the last who knows how many years, and Miami is one of the most well off cities in the country. Also you can check Las Vegas, New York, and probably some other big name cities that are on that list. Also, I'm pretty sure whites do have lots of violence. Name the two biggest wars in recent history and find out who started them.

-You have the United Negro College Fund.
I don't have the Negro College Fund; someone does--many do, but ot me.

-You have Martin Luther King Day.
Anybody who lives in the U.S. has Martin Luther King Day, this holiday is for all Americans, not just a slect group. It is to celebrate a great man that helped change America for the best.

-You have Black History Month. Again all Americans have this. It is nothing more than a month in which this country publicly chooses to view its history through the eyes and lives of those who normally don't get looked at.

-You have Cesar Chavez Day. Have you ever once had to celebrate Cesar Chavez day. Seriously. You can't complain about something worthwhile? Whoever got this off of school? And if you did, you shouldn't be complaining because it got you out of school for a day.

-You have Yom Hashoah Again with the you. You are killing me. No one has to celebrate a holiday that they don't want to. If you don't like Jewish, or African, or Christian holidays, then don't partake in them. It isn't that hard.

-You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi what the hell is this? If it is a holdiay then please see the above post. If it is something else, then it isn't as well known enough to get a day of school off, and therefore, you really have no right to complain.

-You have the NAACP. Yes, the NAACP, and they do a lot of good. Also by the way, the CP stands for colored people. I have never met a person who isn't colored, so it sounds like to me that everybody should be celebrating about the NAACP.

-You have BET. Again, everybody has the right to watch it. It is a television station on Cable that, I bet if you ask the sponsors and people that run the station, would love to have everybody in the world, including whites, watch their station.

-If we had WET(white entertainment television) ...we'd be racist. No, we wouldn't. Racism has to do with a morally skewed view or opinion of other people, not a tv station. Also, you would never have wet because you dont have enough money or pull to start a cable station. Also, to complain about tv stations and so forth means you haven't seen enough. Ever watch VH1, or A&E, or lifetime, or I mine as well bring movies into this, How old were you while little mermaid, snow white and the seven dwarfves, sleeping beauty and other disney movies came out, oooh, and let's not forget dumbo. Watch that movie and tell me white people dont have their own tv. Why are you complaining about a name, damn. Mtv and Bet are practically the same station but I dont hear you hating mtv.

-If we had a White Pride Day... you would call us racist. No I wouldn't, stop grouping me in there. I would call you ridiculous. Everyday society and history reminds people why it is so great to be white. Why would whites need a special day when they already have 365 of them.

-If we had white history month... we'd be racist. No, but it would be pointless. Don't you learn anything in school. If you have ever learned about the U.S. Presidents you are learning white history, what about Puritans, New England, WW1, WW2, Manifest Destiny, Remember the game Oregon TRail? There isn't a month because you have something called school, which feeds you white history by the gallon for the first 18 years of your life. As a poet, you should know to stay away from redundancies.

-If we had an organization for only whites to "advance" our lives... we'd be racist. I'm pretty sure whites have that. It is called the Presidency. You and your inclusive pronouns, I love that you are trying to include people in you exclusion, it makes me chuckle.

-If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships...you know we'd be racist. Ahh you of little knowledge. You know nothing of scholarships. There are exclusive scholarships everywhere. Scholarships one can only get for being Irish, or Italian, or British, or for having family come over on the Mayflower. If a person can't find a scholarship that pertains only to whites, it is because they haven't searched hard enough.

-In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights. If we marched for our race and rights...you would call us racist. Actually, that isn't true. Stop making erroneus claims. People wouldn't call you racist; they would just laugh at you for being foolish, Foolish for claiming that you are looked down upon and have no rights because you come from a middle or upper middle class white family.

-Did you know that some high school students decided to make a club for only the white students because the other ethnicities had them... they all got sent to court for being racist but the african-american, Latino, and Asia clubs were not even questioned. What did the court decide? And this is just an example of ignorance everywhere. Seems like more people than just you need an education.

-You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it. But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists. No. People call you racist for the way in which you announce your white pride, as you did in this topic.

    I am white. Congratulations

    I am proud.
But, you call me a racist. Because you are one.

Why is it that only whites can be racists? Why such stupid questions?

Now watch, I'll be a racist for posting this. No you'll be racists for your opinions against other people groups, you stereotyping and your prejudice (By the way did you notice I added the period at the end of your sentence because you forgot it).

So what? no one will post this for fear of being called racist Actually, had you done your homework and searched the forums you would have found out that other people already had posted this type of topic about two months ago; there were actually two of them.

Tell me that this isn't true, when you know that mainly white people are the "antagonist" in this problem? Actually, whoever is being racist is the antagonist. It's just that history has shown that mainly it was the white man doing the lynching and the mob killings, dragging people behind pick-up trucks down in texas and such. So yeah, I guess that would be the reason, and umm, oh yeah, cause not one black person ever owned a white slave in America.

It's funny, but I don't think that racism can only be for the foolish and ignorant...

Back then, people like Lombrosso and Sheldon and even Darwin, have seen other races as a avatistic step behind Homo Sapiens.

I would say that racism is just an inherent within us all...That and prejudice.

I find it funny, that people still dwell on the stereotype to be racist, you must be dumb...

I suggest you go and look up in Wikipedia on how scientific racism evolved...

Sigh...Recycled words are always tossed around...

  • Cory Mastrandrea

Noir, I suggest you look up the word stereotype. I know how scientific racism evolved. How people measured the differences between skulls and then tried to form a conclusion from them that could justify people's ignorance. And the supposed study of the body size and skin type of the people in jail that supposedly showed that those types of people were genetically prone to be criminals. blah blah blah. Keep reading the wikipedia article, when you get to the bottom there is a link that jumps out, yells surprise, and says these things were proved wrong. This scientific racism as you call it only came around because people were trying to justify their own ignorance, pride, and hate. People were trying to justify the stereotypes they had placed upon other people.

Duh...But I am merely stating Cory...

That in this post thread, it seems that every person who is arguing against people who are viewed as racist...Class them as dumb or foolish or hicks..

But that is far beyond the truth...

I know for a fact that that in itself is stereotype...

  • Cory Mastrandrea

I have classified the racism on here as narrow-minded, uneducated, and foolish because it is. And yes, some of the people are narrow-minded and ueducated, as proven by their posts. As far as calling them foolish, I would have to meet them first.

  • Noir

Studies have shown that we humans have an innate sense of hate towards our fellow man....Plus adding the factors of skin colour, fear, envioroment, provaction...etc..

We shouldn't ostrisise them, but pity them...

Plus I hate when I hear the word "Tolerance"...

    But I digress...

  • The Queen of Spades

Can I also point out that "gringo" is not really a racial slur. As a Latina female who's grown up in California with a white father and a Latin mother, it's more of a term to describe a white person, it's often used to poke fun or simply to describe, but it's nothing like the N word and doesn't really even match the level of "cracker". Just for reference...

And also, to the poster, it's not necessarily where I'm from, but I've heard of predominantly black and filipino areas creating "white clubs" groups...although I have no idea what the reception of a such a group has been.

In addition, all the days and things you posted that black and latin people have are days of inspiration for those minorities. Cesar Chavez was the key man in helping migrant field laborers, predominantly Latinos. I mean we all know who Martin Luther King Jr is and he's an inspiration to many people, of all colors. And second of all, we do have white man holidays: Columbus Day, Presidents Day, etc. Not to mention the fact that we celebrate Christian holidays made popular by Pagans but no other religion other than Christianity gets noticed for their religious traditions with the exception of maybe Hanukkah (god I spelled that wrong) and Kwanzaa.

    To Noir up there:

"And what does a person have to have someone call them gringo...?"

A gringo is someone who's white. The same way we call asian people "china" (NOT pronounced the american way. It's not a racial slur at all.I mean my mom's family called my white dad a gringo all the time and she never took offense because its just not like that.

Also noir in america we dont call whit dudes Irish, scotts, or british. we dont do that no more, becasue brits can be black to we just often say black brow white and well i dont know what they say about asains or natives, but those three i do know. it is no rasict to go in to all this crap about where there from in amreica we all the same. we all amreicans okay so make better points and if you cant read this let me just say

tough cookies deal with it i am not here for your pleasing."

    Oh Lordi Lordi Lord....

William, I do not think I can counter this, seeing as you did it yourself. and made it out so you look asinine...

Anyhoo...I will say this, I am not going to say this whole "mallarky" of we are all of the same race...The Human Race...Non sense...

But what I will say is this...Racism does not dwell on stupidity and ignorance alone...But it also dwells on lack of self esteem and insecurity..

I am also talking about postive racism...Where they say "Asians are too intelligent" or "Black men are hung"...promoting the myth that humans from other countries are some fabled exotic creatures...

People are prejudice, it is a natural fact...And if you see our own microchosm society that we call "P&Q" you would would definitely see it...
