To be honest with you , at that age you are really to young to know what you want in life, but thats you .

To young to know what I want? Here is the stereotyping, at my age, but again, know what I want in life? Like, know that I don't believe in "god" and never will? I already know that,

I'm not trying to threaten you, but you will not insult my God.

Why do you lash out at everyone, if someone older than you says something about you knowing or not knowing something why don't you take their word for it instead of lashing out.

look here, no man determines my destiny, whether it's a pope abroad or a bishop at home. it's david and god.

\i don't know what church you went to but my church and my bible says that god is not willing that any should perish but come to repentence.

oh and repentence doesn't mean turn from your sin like most churches say. it means a change of mind

Hell is actually something that religion uses to instill fear in people. Most of the words that are translated as hell do not even mean hell.

Didn't mean to offend you by saying what did. But surly at 13 you have a long way to go and if anyone in this world shouldn't believe in God it's me.16 years of abuse and no help. But I didn't give up, I made it and got out.
But I never gave up, at 7 years old I wanted to die just to get out. So let yourself grow and then make your mind up about what you believe and not believe. You may change your mind a bit. And no I'm not the stereotype, just someone thats been to hell and came back, and it's not fun at all. Thank you

"Haha, I've already turned away from religion, so many people believing they must do exactly right, and if they don't they will go to hell, if there was a higher being a "god" that cared for everyone, why would this "god" make some people stuck with this fate? So this is why I don't believe it, it doesn't add up....well thanks I guess?"

This is an interesting thing to say, and I think it's actually a major misconception. You're not alone in thinking that Christians believe that. I think even a good amount of people who -are- Christian think "If I'm not perfect then I'll go to hell." But actaully... from what I do understand of faith, and the Bible, it's not like that. Christians realize that it's impossible to be perfect. To strive for utmost perfection is even some sort of pride, because it assumes that it can be attained. Christians may try to live well, it is true, but it is in the understanding that we are imperfect creatures with a tendency to be messed up, and we need help. God would not send someone to "hell" because they weren't perfect. Christianity, at its best, is a faith of help, protection, healing, acceptance. This is what I think is the amazing thing about God - unlike in many religions, where a strict protocol must be followed in order to attain "salvation," Christianity only asks an acceptance of imperfection, and a will to be better.

Hey I'm not lashing out, I do realize I am pretty young, I just don't believe in "god"
^But then isn't it said that if you don't believe in "god" then you will go to hell?
And maybe I think this because many people around me are crazy religious, and I'm tired of being forced into things, many people in my family, or that will soon be in my family and they get mad because I do not pray every night or before every meal, and I'm not insulting your "god" Most of the people in my family are afraid even if they listen to certain music or read certain books they will be sent to hell, their church tells them this! So maybe I had a bad source of information, but from what I've been told, and heard, "god" is supposed to be almighty and if you do anything)!) at all wrong you will go to hell, that I don't believe, so maybe I have just heard wrong from a source I don't know, I'm still not a Christian but, maybe I'll look into it more to see if my aunt's church is just one messed up place, so sorry Tracy D Rollings, if I offended you and whoever else I offended, that's not what I meant to do....

if this isn't lashing out then what is?

i'm not mad, but dude, calm down. no one is here to draft you into their church, don't feel pressured. you think of yourself and your beliefs, whatever they may be. God, the devil, all of us, we are on the sidelines, this is your show

  • skynerraw

Ok, I didn't mean for that to come out like it did, it sounded madder than I was, but you say "no one is here to draft you into their church, don't feel pressured. " But then you say "God, the devil, all of us, we are on the sidelines, this is your show" As I can tell you are contradicting yourself but I don't care, oh well

I totally agree with what you said, and she should wait till she's older to be having should strong thoughts about things like this, because this isn't a laughing matter.

Well, to be honest...I agree with everyone.

I agree that some of the things that David said were literally harsh. She didn't insult your God, she merely stated her disbelief in him, and then you come back telling her that she is wrong in living the way she is? Yes, she is only 13, and that gives her plenty of time to grow and learn - but what say you to the 25 year old who doesn't folllow the path of God? Will s/he die earlier than expected? Will s/he never know where to go?

    No. This is not true.

The point of faith - in my opinion - is to help one find one's own way of life. I, myself, do not believe in God. (Yes, I know, I'm only 19, I have so much time to grow and understand). But for myself, there is only one "god," only one ruler of my destiny...myself (No, I don't see myself as a god, but I'm sure you understand).

Is it then up to people like you, David, to say that Buddhists will die when they least expect it? Just because they don't believe in a god, will their lives be empty?

No. Because they have a path to follow - set down by Buddha - this is their guide, just as God is your guide.

I am my own guide, and perhaps our little 13 year old inquisitor will choose to be her own guide. Who knows?

Just don't try to strike fear in her pretty little heart. And don't try to tell her that because she has no religious belief that nothing will ever believe in her, because that is totally wrong.

I agree with you on that and yes you are old enough to make your mind up about what you want in life. But I'm saying that at 13, you have a long way to go before jumping to one thing and staying with it. Give yourself some time to think things over . No one said you" had"
to believe in anything , but would like to see you make the right choices in life ,because life isn't easy at all, trust me on that I know. I would never lie to anyone.

Yep, I agree totally. I just found that David came on a little strong, that's all.
