For Experienced Poets

Background: Okay, this is going to be my first contest and I'm going to make it a doozy. Each person who reserves will be given three titles. They must write a poem on each one of the titles I've given them. The poem can be structured however the author wishes and there is no restriction on length. Each poem will be rated in a 1-10 format by myself. The winners will be the top three total scores.

Rules:

1) Reserve a spot

3) No structure or style restrictions
4) Poems will be scored par moi (by me) in a 1-10 format
5) The contest will end when either the spots are all filled or on July 25th. [Edit]

Here's one of mine:

Sacred Silence.

Upon the grass of the blood stained hill
lies a child so deathly ill.
Her mind plays tricks through out each day,
as her soul finds sorrow from yesterday.
Her body is numb, silencing all earth
that's taking this child for less than she's worth.
A home so barren, broken and cold..
A sacred place to live for the brave and the bold.
Homeless and fearless.. this child does lie,
upon the bed of which the rest shall die.
Her pointless life is left for another,
to find herself in wondrous smother.
Of which was caused from a wounded heart,
that promised itself not to fall apart.
Perhaps the beauty has gone astray,
broken the curse of this very day.
For the child once lost has found a home..
in the ground below and more alone.

Winter blues

I'm suck here feeling these lonesome winter blues,
wondering when was the last time I got to hold you.

Its been so long, since I felt you wonderful touch,
and moments like these, I miss them so much.

Letting go is not easy, especially letting go of you,
thinking about this pain is breaking my heart in two.

One day I will be happy maybe it will come soon,
till then ill set here crying under this crimson moon.

Perfect Picture

Smiles of elegance, sparkles in the eyes,
All sharing a burden: they're a family of lies.
Each little betrayal is hidden within,
Their hearts of stone, pumping constant sins.

The father is a killer, of the very worst kind:
Preying on any innocent child he can find.
The mother, a mistress, ruined the perfect family,
By seducing someone's husband yet her guilt ran free.

The daughter, 6-years-old, stole all her grandma's rings.
She was an angel with a halo, but she's thrown away her wings.
The son, he is a monster, the devil in disguise,
Just look straight at him, you will see it in his eyes.

This picture may look perfect, but do not believe;
It's very easy when you look, to be deceived.
They're a family of evilness, a deadly disgrace,
Full of fury and malice, they fell from grace.

In this artificial world of ours
There's certain rules to follow
Made up by the 'upper class'
Whose heads are dim and hollow

If you're over a size six
You're classed as overweight
You'd better get those diet pills
Before it's all too late

Make sure you have the latest styles
Cos if you don't beware!
You'll sure to be looked down upon
For having the wrong hair

Now when it comes to getting tanned
The more orange the better
So lather on the fake tan sprays
And follow your trendsetter

And don't forget the killer pout
Or the artificial smile
Be seen with the right people
So you go that extra mile

What happened to the good ole days
When beauty came from within
Forget the rules and regimes
Grab a burger and tuck in!

It creeps in through the front door
It slithers through the back
Flooding the floors entirely
Bypassing the sand sack

There is no escaping it
It's pouring from the sky
Rising to the windowsills
It's never been this high

It covers up entire roads
Drowning the yards and fields
We try our best to stem the beast
With the huge sand bag shields

But this time we can't stop it
The flood spreads through the town
All we can do is save ourselves
As the heavens all fall down

Death pours down upon us
Bringing tragedy and tears
All that we can do is hope
This monsoon season clears

Lighting Luck.

Your words stick within my heart,
seeping in as I tear apart.
Forever and a day- - promises, oh promises.

Your thoughts linger on my mind,
fading as I slowly find..
I'm unable to cope- - promises, oh promises.

Your lies they find my weakest vein,
and dwell within my horrid pain:
Forever and a day - - promises, oh promises.

Your lies are lies but not for long,
and your words can do nothing wrong,
your thoughts, they help me on my way..
And with lighting luck, it's forever and a day.

God's Child Or Satan's Angel.

Perhaps it's the mind that reads the soul,
or the soul that reads the mind.
Either way it's you and I trying to find our way,
but we've gotten lost on this rainy day.
And, the lighting strikes as the thunder roars,
and tress fall down and the rain it soars.
The pier is darkened with the devils laugh,
but the sky is brightened and sin taken back.

As sheepish grins they cross our face,
and mini-hearts, they take our place.
As we drift off into what we call heaven and hell,
but how is it possible that our answers fell?
They're fallen dreams and toughened nights,
as we lose each unbearable fight..

I'm still not sure if it's me or you,
that's the reason we can't make it through.
Two souls, two mines living in one..
Oh, oh, which shall run?
Is it God's Child or Satan's Angel? - - One is wrong
and, we're falling behind where each belong.

I'm going to be taking even longer. I completely forgot I had band camp and spaced that, so it'll take me at least until the weekend. If you want to give it to someone else, I'll understand.

Well teria and Ecstasy.. the fate of whether or not either of your poems will count is up to gem. Mostly because Gem was the only one to complete the three poems within the given time frame. Making her the sole winner. She can choose to either allow you to continue particpation or she can choose to disqualify you for violation of the rules. Sorry if this upsets either of you, but I find it only fair that the one person who followed the rules is able to choose.

Sound completely fair to me. If she so chooses to let us continue, I'll have mine in within tonight or tomorrow; half of it's written, but that's all I could write with my spare time. Sorry for the inconvience and thank you for understanding.

Is it still okay for me to complete my other poems and submit them? Sorry they're late, I couldn't get on due to extended hours at work.

I'll write them up and submit them, but if they don't count, then that's okay.

Insanity Song

It used to be a lullaby;
Your sweet echoes filled my ears.
Yet now all that voice does to me
Is flood my memory with my darkest fears.

Your singing soothed me while I could not sleep;
It calmed me when my worries rose,
Yet now it is a mere reflection
Of that gentle man whom I once chose.

Yet you turned so dark, so bitter;
A constant cloud above your head.
It became so bad that I found I cared not
If you one day ended up stone-cold dead.

My mind is now so frazzled, so ruined,
And that lullaby of which I've known all along
Is nothing more than a harsh memory,
Of which I now know as my "Insanity Song".

Best Friend Betrayal

You used to be my only friend;
The only one of whom I could talk to.
You wouldn't talk back, you'd sit there and listen,
Always knowing exactly what to do.

You were my world, my Teddy:
The entirety of a 6-year-old's life.
But then you let those boys steal you,
And they cut you right up with a knife.

How could you do that, Teddy?
I no longer could talk to anyone.
There were people around me, night and day,
But I wanted and needed my number 1.

You're up in Heaven with the other teddies,
And I'm stuck down here alone.
You betrayed me by leaving me, Teddy,
And now I sit here all on my own.

So is this over?
