Themed Poetry Contest

It's a beautiful summer day - clear skies, nice cooling breeze, birds twittering overhead as bountifully leafed trees stretch toward the heavens. You are sitting in a park under the shade gazing around you. What do you see? How does it make you feel? Does it make you yearn for something, someone?

To get in the mood for this poem may I suggest this: go outside and sit under the shade and look about you. Then close your eyes. Feel the breeze. Listen to the birds... then tell me in 30 lines or less.
Remember the first rule of writing: SHOW don't TELL!!!!

You DO have a crunch time: 10 days
so poems are due by the 26th of this month

This is open form but there are rules.

1. obviously no I wanna die poems. A nice summer day doesn't make anyone wanna curl up and die.

2. NO foul language (my virgin eyes can't take it :-D)

Summer Lullaby
By: Twisted Heart

Crystal stars flashing bright
then slowly fades away
Into the sky they shoot across
the vestige Milky way
Upon the sand you rest your head
and close your sleepy eyes
A murmur from your tender lips
that tease and tantalize.

Against the midnight silence
hear a seagull in the breeze
Flying cross the moonlit sky
with salty ocean ease
Around us tranquil slumber
as we lay beneath the palms
Ebb tide laps the shore of sand
while summer sings its song

Enchanted by the melody,
the tune so soft and sweet
I close my eyes and welcome
all the tender summer dreams
Two souls that nestle closely
as our hearts rise to the sky
And dance among moon and stars
to a summer lullaby.
