Creative Thinking

Okay...Although i love and understand why people write sad or dark poems, they get a little...well, depressing. so! i am going to have an amazingly happy contest! i am doubting many people will do this, but it is worth a shot! so i will come up with the titles and just let me know which one you want. the contest ends the 31st of August. the titles are going to be random things that i think of off the top of my head.

here are the rules:

*No explicit poems
*No chat speak
*Don't take somebody elses ideas! this is about YOUR creative mind...not somebody elses
*Have fun with it, i'm looking for creativity!
*ummm...that is all i can think of.

Umm it was hard...lol, but I gave it a try :P...i guess its not too good..but oh well =)

I walked out to the ice caps one day,
And my eyes popped out of their sockets.
I stared deeply into the sky,
And I saw black and white creatures on rockets.

It could've been aliens,
It could've been ghosts.
Mommy told me about them,
They put you into special little alien toasts.

I looked to the left,
And there was nothing there.
I looked to the right,
And I saw a polar bear.

So I ran and ran,
I ran my life away.
Luckily for me I always carried jam,
To feed me on a rainy day.

So I figured out what went wrong,
The aliens attacked our homes.
But one thing still intrigued my little penguin mind,
Why weren't the neighbors picking up their phones?

I knocked on each and every door,
But nobody chose to open.
I even tried to fly,
I tried so hard to soar.
But the weather was to cold to fly in.

I guess we penguins just can't fly,
The aliens must've known.
Speaking of penguins,
Where did all the penguins go?
It's been a while since they've shown.

Smells like purple
You sniff the air
Sniff, sniff.
Youre thinking of something,
But what.
What is the smell?
You turn to look all you see is colors,
You turn again,
Same thing.
You sniff the air again,
It smells like purple!
But were is it?
You must sit,
Sit to think.
Were could it be?
You do not see!
You can smell it,
Because it smells like purple!
You walk around,
Its not on the ground.
Its not on the walls,
Or in the halls.
Maybe its outside!
I bet you it did hid!
Then you see it!
Its something purple,
You knew it smelled like purple!

Anybody else? come on guys...at least give it a try. what can it hurt. just because it is a little different doesn't mean you won't do a good job. the poems entered so far are wonderful. keep up the good work!

Yes they can be love poems. just no sad or dark poems. that is the point of this.

Can I try Smells like purple?

Where did all the penguins go?

A way up north they say, there are some funny things
they walk around in black suits, and have funny little wings

Now mama once did tell me, to stay away from those
but why they held my fascination, no one really knows

I couldn't stay away from them, I saw them every day
but one day they disappeared, the penguins went away

The only trace left of them, were markings in the snow
So then now, I must ask, where did all the penguins go?

I followed that trail, till it vanished beneath my feet
but something here was fishy, the trail was incomplete

Alas I do know something, I know penguins do not fly
so how could they're trail vanish, right before my eyes?

It wasn't made by penguins! it looked more like a sleigh
I would have guessed it Santa, but it wasn't Christmas day

Santa, oh so jolly, will know where the penguins are
We'll have to pay him a visit, the north pole ain't that far

Alas again, I was wrong, it was way to far a walk
by the time i got to Santa's it was way passed 12 o'clock

Santa was already fast asleep, snuggled up in his bed
Then I heard a noise somewhere, coming from his shed

I went to see what the commotion was, and then i did find
what was inside Santa's shed, would shock all of mankind

About a thousand tiny penguins, shoved inside his sack
I guess that dear old Santa, doesn't like the creatures of black

I snuck in oh so quietly, and let all those penguins out
Then I marched myself to Santa, to see what this was all about

That not so jolly Santa, was awakened by my voice
I said listen here big fella, you don't really have a choice

Why'd you take the penguins? he danced around the question
He wasn't gonna answer, I could see in his expression

So if Santa stole those penguins, he could steal you too
so you better be asleep when he comes, like all good children do

And next time you write to Santa, think real hard and slow
and remember to ask Santa: where did all the penguins go?

Very nice poems...now, i will only allow 4 poems to a title. if you write a poem for one that is already full, i will not even add your name ,sorry. and yes, Letty, you can try "Smells like purple" and very nice poems so far!!

No problem, i actually came up with that at work...i work as a housekeeper...so we wear gloves when we clean the bathrooms, and i ended up getting grape jelly on my glove O.o so i started singing it to my co-worker, lol.

Wow, not to sound rude...but this poem sounds surprisingly similar to "Hey Brittknee"s...i am not going to add it because it seems as though you copied her idea and i will not have that. this contest is about creativity, your creativity, not somebody elses. if you really want your poem on here, re-write it with your own idea. sorry.

To say I'm upset would be mild
Outraged is a much better word
My brand new pair of white gloves now ruined
Without a clue as to the HOW, WHY, and WHO!

Someone knows the answer I'm sure
Just tell me what you know about this, or
Convince someone to explain to me
How the grape jelly got on my glove.

I've got a funny one that i just wrote recently, although it wasn't for this contest so it's a different title. can i still submit it?

I would prefer my titles, because it isn't really fair to the other people who had a good idea but didn't submit it because they don't have anything to do with the above titles, so i'm going to say sorry, but no.

You guys have till midnight my time...it is 4:42 p.m. right now. little over seven hours to go!

1st - Hey Brittknee
Amazing poem! The rhymes were right on, the flow was perfect and it was very fun to read. Even a 10 year old child could read this and understand it because it has more of childish story feel to it (dont' take that in a bad way, that is a good thing)Anybody of any age group could read this and just fall in love with it. It really does create a picture in your mind. Once again, great job! Leave me 6 titles so i can comment them and i will get to it as soon as possible.

2nd - Niclean
This poem was so adorable! I had a smile on my face everytime i read it. Although it was short, you got your point across and it was a very nice point. Your rhymes were great and i love how you threw a few bigger words in there, it really brought it all together. The flow was perfect and there isn't a thing you could or should change to make it better, great job. Leave me 4 titles so i can comment them and i will get to it as soon as possible

3rd - Connie
This was a nice poem with a wonderful feel to it. When i read the first stanza, i thought you were doing the 2 and 4 rhyme scheme, but after that you kind of lost it. you really created a picture, a funny picture. but if you were on the rhyming a little bit the flow might work out a little better. i wasn't sure if you wanted it like that or not, but if you did want it like that, but that is what kind of ruined it for me. leave me 2 titles so i can comment them and i will get to it as soon as possible.

Thank you for 3rd place! I came very close to pulling out of this contest because I struggled so with writing the poem (the topic was fun, but not an easy one to bring into poetry - for me anyway!) I appreciate your comments, and very much agree. Again, thanks so much!
