I don't think one better than the other.

If you write a poem that means something to you and relates to you, you can't judge it to be better or worse than another topic regardless whether it's feelings or things you've seen.

I agree with the girl above me. It's not about whether you've been through it or seen it, it's about how well your poem flows and how much emotion is present in the poem.

Things you've seen Might affect on you the same as if you were writing your feelings...so I guess both are much similar.

Hmm. i couldn't chose from the two because both are what i write about. you shouldn't be choosing from the two from the start. poetry is a way to let loose what going on in your mind and heart.

None of those is better, for what you may have witnessed may have come in account for what you are feeling. With those two fortunate things clasping together at hand, none of them necessarily matter.
