Why is it called Boxing Day?

    because canadians take all the stuff they get on christmas, put it in >boxes< and give it to the less fortunate

    because boxing day used to be the day when the servants got a break and had there presents which they received in boxes!

    they used to have boxing matches on boxing day because i know my dad used to be the doc at a few of them!

    Well, I think it started in britian because the servants were required to work christmas day....so in a sense it was the servants christmas on boxing day....and there masters so to speak would give them a holiday gift but in boxes before the servants left to see their families. It's kinda sad actually because knowing we have a holiday right after christmas because people didn't want servants to celerbrate christmas on it's original day because apparently people don't know how to cook their own meal or clean there own house. ah don't you just love history!
