Who Makes A Difference

by Thanatos Ang-El   Apr 17, 2014

The average person is following a worthless society
A society that now is isolated
An isolation in a sea of people
Looking at themselves and pretending
Wanting to be "a Kool Kid"
And knowing they're shams
Fitting in no matter what the cost
Today it was a girl's life
What's it going to be tomorrow
The fat boy that you make fun of
He runs every day just to try to look "normal"
Or the anorexic girl
She starves herself so she can be "attractive"
The so-called emo kid in the corner
Those scars aren't from a blade
They're from a drunken father and an angry mother
Yet each day he finds hope
Hope that things will get better
Maybe the nerd at the front of the class
The one that tries so hard
Just to go serve food at work to feed his sister
Sacrifice the poor kid
He's ran away from home
So that his parents would notice him
It has been over a month and they still think he's in his room
If you don't want to be cruel then use the outsider
The one with no friends, no family, no one to care
He's an orphan
The only survivor in a family striving for more
Pick the suicidal one
He wants to die
His depression is caused because of all the rumors
It's all thanks to you that he is sitting there
All alone, quiet, sulking, but seeing everything
Everything you say
You peasants
Following an isolated society
A worthless society
One where you have to hurt to gain
To you it's more important to be part of something
Anything
To fit in and be "accepted"
Than it is "to understand, empathize, apologize, and mean it"
To see someone, everyone, and "yourselves for what you are
And for what you could be"
That better person you hear about in stories from long ago
But never see
It's still a possibility
As long as you are willing to change
"To think and not make thoughts your aim"
"Talk in a crowd and still keep your virtue"
To be different from the masses
These people are doing all this
All they can
For you
The worthless society that looks down on them
I say that it's enough
To stop trying to please and fit in
Do you want to be a part of something
Something real
Be your own person
And own what you do
What you're responsible for
Including what you say
But also how you act
What are you doing right now
Because right now
At this moment
Ask yourself
What difference are you making
