What Ravyn Really Is

by RetroRavey   Apr 29, 2008

You speak of her,
Words that only reach hollow ears
Glances that glare back at you
From hollow eyes.
Emptiness
A shattered soul.
Broken hearts that linger on the mind,
Touches that linger on the hand
But only for a moment.
You wish you could delve deeper,
Wish that there was something more you could hold onto,
That she was really there.
Maybe if her mind wasn't a desert
Of endless emotionless wandering
We all could see
And she wouldn't just be beautiful on the outside.
Maybe if we could feel her heart
Beat and break on our palms,
Her eyes might show a spark of preference and personality.
Maybe if she wasn't empty
She could be loved.
She is the perfect show of nothingness,
A circus freak we watch in awe
As she dances her dance of an empty shell
And a worthless soul.
She dances beautifully though,
Letting tears stream forth freely
Though they mean nothing.
Beautiful shards of glass
That penetrate the skin and the eyes
With a single glint of icy loveliness.
She is cold,
Letting not the warmth of another body
Or the warmth of a blazing fire warm her freezing soul.
She is lovely but empty,
A rose without an alluring scent,
An aurora without the shine,
A smile without any of the joy.

You speak of her
But words only bounce back to your hollow ears...
For this is what Ravyn really is.

These lines sum up this poem excellently. This is my favorite part of the piece, beautifully descriptive and powerful.

Overall, I like this poem a lot. You expressed emotions on a great way and this is truly intense and creative from the beginning to the end. I like your choice of words along with very vivid imagery that you portrayed.
