Butterfly Garden

by Foolish Heart   May 10, 2008

"hasta manana"
my Spanish teacher says
as 7th period ends
toward the door everyone heads

i stop by my locker
to get my stuff
you happen to be standing there
sure enough

i ask why you're standing there
why you are not on the bus
you say you wanna walk home
you and me--just us

we start walking together
talking bout life
our goals and dreams
each other's strife

we walk through the park
by the fountain we sit
I'm feeding the birds
in the movies this scene would fit

but then you get up
and say "follow me"
i get up and wonder
what does that mean

you say there's this secret place
hidden far away
where life is but a dream
no matter what the day

we walk 5 more minutes
nothing but the sound of birds
you say something
but i'm not sure what i heard

we finally get there
it's a butterfly garden
filled with flowers and butterflies
you tell me to go on in

we sit on a bench
sitting side-by-side
my continuous wondering
is now hard to hide

i finally ask
why are we here
my parents will worry
and dinner is near

all you do is look in my eyes
and say "you are always mine"
i smile and nod
as our hands intertwine

you lean in close
and go for a kiss
caught me by surprise
that i nearly missed

when we finished
a question you wanted to ask
it's a simple question
answering isn't a hard task

"will you marry me?"
you ask while pulling out a ring
i start to cry
angel began to sing

"you are my life, my everything
you complete me, my other half
you plus me
it's simple sweet math

take this ring
say you're mine
together we'll stand
non of us left behind."

we are still young
but i love you so much
the closer i feel with you
the more we touch

of course i said yes
the ring I'll gladly wear
i promise I'll love you always
I'll always be there

it's not like Cinderella
we have more than 2 chapters
we have our whole life
and live happily ever after

now we're married
this life can't be bargained
you and me
and our butterfly garden.
