The mirror

by Foolish Heart   Apr 18, 2008

Let me tell you a story
about a little girl
who's life was perfect
she had the world

she had blue eyes that sparkle
and brown, beautiful, long hair
she was pretty and tall
and had skin that was so fair

all the girls wished they were her
winning over all the guys
with just a simple look
and a sweet little "hi"

and all the guys wished they were hers
imagining the dimples that would form on her face
as they would walk hand in hand
in the park-at a slow and steady pace

but this girl had a secret
not a word she spoke
as each day that passed by
another piece of her broke

i'm not talking about emotionally
throwing up was a routine for her
this life she chose
no one ever deserves

she knew it was wrong
it made her very sick
yet she couldn't just stop
the mirror was playing it's tricks

she thought she was ugly
she thought she was fat
she thought she was worthless
as worthless as a rat

people began to see
the difference everyday
up to the point
that were was nothing left to trim away

"you've been losing weight"
everyone would say
she would cry
and run away

"losing weight" wasn't enough
she wanted it all gone
she went home
and threw-up till dawn

the next day
she didn't go to school
students thought she was skippin
cause she was so cool

she was in the hospital
no that's not a lie
the poor girl was sick
she was gonna die

she would die young
such a sad scene
she would die soon
before she turns 16

she didn't know
how much she was loved
she was people's angel
sent from above

so my story ends
the once loved girl is gone
a death by anorexia
the mirror had won
