A Million Points Of Light

by Torrence   Jul 16, 2008

I close my eyes as the world drifts by,
in a million points of light.
I stand and watch the sky approach
from the ebb and flow
above and below
they join somewhere up there
high in the air, above the clouds
in the kingdom claimed by the birds.
My thoughts adrift like sailing ships
my eyes closed wide to see.
And the sun still shines from time to time,
though those times are turning rare.
The rains fall down, the foolish drown
the dead come up for air.
When majesty speaks through these crowded streets
when kingdom come has come and gone
through this clouded lens we glimpse our fate
our painful love, our joyous hate
the nothingness from something we all create
This infinite abyss 'tween heart and mind,
O bitter strife, lamentable calamity
O cursed starts why still must you shine?
Forevermore torment and damn me
With a million points of perfect light.
