A Memory Lost

by ScarlettaNoir   Jul 31, 2008

He never had anyone
No one to hold
No one to love
No one to kiss him good night
And then he met her...

She was a sweetheart
Friend from hello
Cared about everyone
Always smiled in difficult times
And then she saw him...

He was a doctor
She was his assistant
He could feel it
She couldn't help it
They fell in love...

The best moment of his life
Didn't feel lonely anymore
Didn't lock himself up
Didn't shun the world
He laughed, a few times since forever...

She was his everything
His first Christmas present in years
His first feeling of comfort
His first true love
The first time he knew happiness...

He felt it was time
Wanted to really love her
Wanted to belong to her
Wanted to spend the rest of his life with her
He proposed...

Then tragedy struck
His father wouldn't have it
His career was at risk
His family didn't like it
He gave way to depression...

Opening his eyes, he was alone again
She had left
Returned home
Gave up hope for their love
He cried, first time since her arrival...

The years past
Springs bred short flowers
Summers flew by
Falls soon chilled
Winter was cold, he remembered her...

The next spring came too soon
Wedding bells in the smooth air
His cousin visited
Pictures in hand
"Do you want to see them?"

He shook his head
Left the table
Sat in his office
A tear rolling down his cheek
She had married a lawyer that day...

That season seemed so happy
Roses blooming
Sun shining
Birds chirping
But he saw the rain cloud...

A framed picture stood on his desk
Her face so gleaming
Her smile so warming
Her eyes so sparkling
But she had married, told his cousin she didn't remember his name...
