Wake Up Dead (One of my earliest poems)

Only once it happens, has it happened yet?
As I hang here, tell me when I'm dead

As I fight and struggle for my last breath
Now I am denying that I have regrets

I'm screaming out don't say it's all in my head
Will anyone come to their senses before I wake up dead?

I never said I loved anyone, but I longed for consistency
I'm here alone now and my soul cries to be freed

I'm hanging on by a thread; in the darkness I call
As I reach out a hand, I wake up dead and start to fall
