A Beautiful Day

by The Angel of Secrets   Oct 16, 2008

When I woke up this morning, tired,
I looked out my window and I saw rain.
But today is a glorious day to be alive,
Even though I'm living in pain

I'm standing, waiting for the subway,
I don't know why, but it's late.
But today is a good day to be alive,
Because today is a part of my fate.

I go to school, I hate it,
What I meet is a tired face.
But today is a splendid day to be alive,
Because one day I'll bring my name to grace.

Thoughts of death confuse me,
I know I smile, when I should be crying.
But today is a lovely day to be alive,
Even though time is slipping and I'm dying.

A world to grasp, it's mine for the taking,
Because me and my words, we will survive.
Every breath a new sensation,
Because today is a beautiful day to be alive.

I absolutely love the optimism in this.
Also, the contrast was very nice, especially when you show all these things that aren't good, but it's still a "beautiful day to be alive."

I'm adding this one to my favourites. :)

Again, you rhymed rain and pain.

In the second stanza subway is too big of a word, why not change it to bus?
I don't understand why today is part of your fate, it's a dramatic line which isn't followed up anywhere in the poem.

The depression part of this poem lets it down a bit, too.

    Vocabulary!

    Now to the good things;
I loved loved loved the idea of this poem, you created great images which I adore and it's a beautiful day here at the moment, which makes it that much more relevant.
You did a great job of making such a beautiful day =]
