From a soldier.....

by Poetic Grunt   Dec 31, 2008

We walk the streets in a formation or line
Worried about the peace and keeping whats left of our mind
Hollow heroes left behind
To fight a war thats left the world blind
Were so cold, but so very much alive
Until Victory were told, we'll hold the line
Trying to be the man that we are inside
Caught up in nothings against ourselves we hide
In time we were forgotten, lost to everyone at home
Politicians only talkin... Leaving us to fight on alone
We fought their muffed up holy wars, and you ask us how should we feel?
We answer with Esprit De Corps, staying silent as you know nothing of the kill
Our feet hurt from all the sand, but for you we walk on weapons ready at hand
We'll die once at the enemies hand, and we'll die again for the American man
Life itself seems to fade away, leading us on thinking were not here to stay
But our souls drift on further everyday, searching for something besides the games were forced to play
Most have lost the will to live, this war being over why are we here?
Men with nothing left to give, sent to the cities with rules of engagement unclear
Shoot or be shot, thats how war should be....
But here in Iraq's politician plot, its hold until incoming we see
Our last words we mutter... so that only you can hear
We love you all like we love our mothers, and we'll fight till the death for you to stifle your fear.

We are = We're. You've accidently put 'were' instead of 'we're' a few times.

Once again you made me cry. I must admit you guys do help my fears that deal with many thoughts of being terrorized by other men. But, there's still the fear that some amazing guy with a loving family, or even no family at all is over there fighting to wind up dead. And, while he fought so bravely for our country there are so many people over here doing nothing about such things. I know many try but a lot of times that's not enough.

You're a good man, Shadowe. A brave and kind many. I respect you for that. And, I love you even though I have no clue who you are or where you're from. My heart goes out to you and your family. God Bless.
