IF

If words were said in the moment
If time took a wondering pause
If spring had sprung in a instance
Would we stop to wonder its cause?

If a gesture ceased to speak
If heartfelt tears no longer fell
If our blissful joy had ended
Would we even be able to tell?

If the sun should no longer rise
If the stars would lose its light
If darkness overcame our strength
Would we even be able to fight?

If our very last was our many firsts
If our dreams really did come true
If our tears became laughs we shared
Would we know them to be few?

If icy snow would give way to rain
If morning dew was upon the grass
If our hearts knew summers love
Would we simply then let it pass?

If I could structure a sentence
If I could organize my thoughts
If I could break down my defenses
Would I be able to speak my heart?

If I asked if it would be enough
If you take me simply as I am
If you knew the love that is in my heart
Would it be enough to meet God's plan?

If words were said in the moment
If time took a wondering pause
If I could tell you how much I love you
Would you stop to wonder the cause?

Eloquently spoken, I like how you ask questions that leaves the reader wondering. Your flow is beautiful. You have quite the way with words. :)

I am certainly no critic but if you are looking to improve this amazing poem, only in my opinion I believe it would read easier if you would eliminate all of the inbetween if's from the poem and only put one at the beginning of each stanza to read like this.....
    If....
words were said in the moment
    time took a wondering pause
spring had sprung in a instance
Would we stop to wonder its cause?

In my personal opinion I believe that all of the if's distract the reader from reading this amazing poem. You have a lot of great words in here and have done an otherwise excellent job with this. Please keep in mind that it is only a matter of opinion to change that and it's entirely up to you. I am looking forward to reading more of your work and thank you again for such a wonderful comment.
