Take my hand and I will never let you down

by Alex D   Jan 21, 2010

Never in all of my life
Have I ever seen eyes as empty as
these streets of my city on a Saturday night
all of the green in your eyes scream "Go"
Hesitation
Contemplating the consequences
Pros and Cons bear down on my shoulders
Fear strikes and logic tries to break through
Love burns bright "I've never quit anything in my life."
Confidence
"and I won't quit you." Reaching out, breathe
My heart's on the line, lost in a search for fire
In soulless eyes, hoping for the flicker of old flames
Read my eyes, tears form, losing hope
Please, just
Take my hand and I will never let you down

I once lived in a town much like the one you write about, wouldn't see more than 10 people after nine o'clock. The lights that shine brightest or are most noticable are street lights and I like how you compared that in your poem to wanting to "go" or being able to. All love needs is some time to grow but most people quit long before it blossoms. Excellent job 5/5
