A Sonnet: Rain

by Brookie   Feb 1, 2011

The rain falls lightly as we dance outside
We twist and we twirl, we run and we race
Slipping and sliding we find how to glide
For now we are covered in heavens lace
Lights comes and spreads its fingers through the sky
Like trumpets, blue and purple thunder blows
Staring wide eyed it reaches far and high
In awe we stand for natures finest shows
Time we cannot stop, evening turns to night
Chills run up our spines as the cold seeps in
Liveliness has been taken like the light
Silence thick and sticky clutching within
In stillness we wait for the light to break
For until then nothing will make us wake

An ingtriguing piece. I liked your use of metaphors and imagery. As I said, I found it to be a very interesting piece, and I think your descriptive language aided that, but I must say, I don't think the piece flowed. Not for me, anyway. It seem to almost get a rhythm, and then fade.

Anyway, it was a piece I am glad to have read. Thank you for sharing it.
