Song of Myself

by Niya Jones   Jan 29, 2012

I create my image and enhance it to the fullest,
What I have become you can also become,
Cause anything I can achieve and acquire you can do as well.

I dream and let my imagination take over my mind and body,
I hear the voices of angels as I wonder into the distance,
As I wonder into the inevitable, as I wonder into my destiny.

I hear the buzzes of the bees as they go and suck the sweetness from the flowers,
The sweetness we call honey, the sweetness they desire.
I look in admiration as they achieve their goal and know that I can do the same,
All I have to do is try, all I have to do is yearn, all I have to do is want.

I listen to my heart in search of answers,
I learn from my heart that the question is not what it may seem.
It's just a mere illusion to blind me from the answers I look for,
It's just another way to make me realize what has never been realized before.

See, see, see is all my eyes are capable of,
But no one really sees anything worth seeing through their eyes.
You must look through your heart to see your reality,
To see your fate, to see your life, to see who you really are.

In order to learn, you must use your mind and not your head,
For your head can only hold so much, when your mind can expand to any extent.

I assume that anything worth having is something to work for,
But this assumption can only get me so far.
Cause to work, you must be willing, and to be willing, you must see yourself worthy of anything.

Once you have acquired these feelings, then you can begin your work.
But none of your work can get you anything you want,
If what you're seeking isn't worth its while.

My body is just a reflection of nature's beauty.
It doesn't make me, it only identifies me to the human eye.
My soul is who I really am, it's what I'm really made of, it's what I stand for.
Without this I am nothing and being nothing shows my non-existence,
If I don't exist then I can never experience the beauty of the nature I'm destined to reflect.

I am only who I make myself to be,
If I have no desire to become anything, then I will be nothing.
Life isn't worth spending on materialistic things,
Cause in the end you will realize life is all about who you are, not what you have.
You'll never be complete until you learn this for yourself,
But your desire to have, will blind you from seeing what you could become.
