Yeah, there is not much we can do other than remember that face and if we see it somewhere then that's when we can be of some help.

I like how you started with the milk carton and in the morning.

I have to admit that the 35000 is a high number and I wasnt expecting this poem to be about this topic. My first thought was the movie 300 so I thought that perhaps it was similar or in relation to a movie.

This actually gave me chills. I could see the pain in that person, the devastation of loss.
    I couldn't imagine such pain.
    Excellent write

I wasn't sure where your were going though I deeply felt influenced by your beautiful way of exposing live scenes. And.... wow, I was blown away with the footnote.

Liz, why do these people go missing??
    !!

    I'm still awe-struck.
    BEAUTIFUL.

I don't know why they go missing :( but it is heartbreaking that a lot of people are never found.

The number is quite large but that's just for Australia. I'd hate to know the number for the rest of the world :|

    35,000 !! woaa that's a huge number.
The most tragic thing about missing people is their families live in hope, each day they wake up with a hope that their loved one is still alive and will be back home soon. Life hardly moves on.

    //Your face -
    staring at me from
    the side of the milk
    carton

    with words bolded and as
    clear as day...

    M I S S I N G

// I liked how you have slowly brought the subject into the poem.

    A beautiful write.

I don't know whether you actually have a missing friend, and if you do I'm so sorry.

It's crazy, really, that we lose our keys or our wallet - objects with relative value. To know that a PERSON is missing...what a scary thing. And to be the missing person, I'd hope no one would give up looking for me if I were to be missing.

    Well done on this piece

    I'd pour myself a
    glass of milk
    into a cup which
    appears to be unwashed

    from the day before...

^ Even though thats gross, I loveeeddd this stanza..In a dirty dish glass, you can tell just from reading that how much pain this person is, that they cant even keep up with their household duties...Very nice descirption!!

    Mundane tasks are now
    my daily struggle

    You're all I think about

^ That was sooo heart wrenching. My heart literally saddened when I read this.

I thought this poem was excellent. You took a topic, ran with it, and came out with a masterpiece that could truly raise awareness on the subject..

I too, did not know where you were going with this piece, but the title was so intriguing I had to read! Well done!!

One of the better aspects of this poem is the slow revelation of the nature of the missing face. Very well done.

The despondency of the parent is starkly portrayed in an accurate, yet loving manner. It neither condones her obsession with the missing child nor faults her for the profound depression from which she suffers.

Until your dedication, the force of the poem had me convinced you spoke from first hand.
