Don't Hide

by Marino Vilano   Feb 11, 2012

Are you proud of yourself when you try to hide,
The feelings for me, that you keep inside.
You say you can't love me, and try to say goodbye,
But we know your talking crazy, I can see it in your eyes.

I ain't one to quit on love,
I will fight until my fight is done.
Your heart is screaming for me,
It wants love so desperately.

You've been thru troubles in your life,
You thought he was good, fell for his lies.
Love to you was like a record on repeat,
You always seemed to be crying on your knees.

Asking God to send you a miracle,
A guy who would love you like an Angel.
That's when He put me on your path,
He chose me to take you by your hand.

But you kept your heart in denial,
It was trying to call out for me, it just couldn't dial.
You built a wall for your protection,
Waiting on a knight to rescue this princess.

For a long time I tried to make you understand,
That I loved you, that I was a better man.
One that will love you like no other can,
A love that will never end between man and woman.

Who did you think your fooling, when you say you don't love me?
Girl I know your bluffing, and you know your talking crazy.
You insist that you can't love me, your trying to say goodbye,
I know you don't mean it, I can see it in your eyes.

I stood by your side,
Thru good and bad times.
Just like a real man should do,
All to prove that I was true.

Who would've ever known,
Two years later I'd be looking at you.
As I saw you walking down the aisle,
You looked so beautiful, I couldn't help but smile.

We were looking at each other in front of a crowd,
As you and I exchanged our wedding vowels.
It was always you and I against the world,
We beat all odds, down this long road.

I knew you were the one for me,
I knew you were mine to keep.
All you had to do was let yourself fall,
And trust in me that I'd catch you with my love.

Very nice poem Marino, I think its really cool that through out your journey to marriage you never gave up and pushed for what you wanted. Im glad she came to her senses and realized the catch she had. I really did like the ending to your poem and the idea of your love catching her after she let herself fall. 5/5

I see christophers point. Please don't take his comment by heart. The thing is that this poem is too personal and only a few people can relate to it.
It's not about the length or the structure. In my opinion is that only those who are involve around this poem can fully understand the feelings and the situation.

I like it, but I would have love to see a few metaphors. Just to give my imagination a job.

    Overall it was good.
