Not Like You

by Jewel Cook   Jun 13, 2012

I thought you were different,
but now Im hurt and you don't care.
I now see you're like the rest of them.
Just here for a while until you get to know the real me.
You told me you'd be there no matter what,
but you lied.
You weren't there for me, and you didn't
stay by me through the hard times.
I should've known I was too much for you.
You can't handle someone like me.
Someone who goes through so much and just needs
someone they can tell it to.
You don't realize that not everything is happy.
Some of us go through things.
Things that no one should have to go through,
but you don't realize that do you?
You just left me here alone.
Like we were nothing at all, but that's ok.
I'll make it through.
Find someone not like you.

I can feel the betrayal in this poem which is really good because betrayal can be a hard emotion to portray.

I understand your pain because I have gone through this multiple times and sadly it manages to break my heart each and every time :( There is just something about being betrayed that goes down deep the core of a person. It makes one feel like they are not good enough sometimes - not even worthy of being friends with anyone.

Excellent job at expressing betrayal, and disgust
