They Say

by Aaron   Jul 3, 2012

They say wisdom comes with age-
I find this quite untrue
for I have eyes of old
yet, my body is fairly new,
they say time heals all wounds
and still people go through a lifetime being hurt;
losing themselves in depression
their happiness becomes inert.

They say,
but do the really know?

They say life is what you make it
it's best to take it slow,
we don't live forever
so is slow the best way we should go?
They say it's good to be different
don't ever be the same
so, why is it when we come off a little eccentric
society laughs and point as they call us lame?

They say,
but when do they ever really know?

I love this poem and its message. Wonderfully written, and the rhymes were a great touch.

society laughs and point as they call us lame?

I'm not sure about this line though, in my own opinion the word lame doesn't really sit well with the rest of the piece. But altogether 5/5
