The Dark Angel Mother

I feel the dark closing in on me,
No light penetrating the coffin in which I lay,
I was placed within this box on a whim, they all thought I'd died quickly,
But now, as I am confined within the darkness, I have one last thing I want to say:

Dear dark angel mother, you showed me the light in my life
You held me together as I threatened to fall apart,
And for you, I will be eternally grateful, and will always remember the last moments I was alive
And smile softly, for you are stationed and preserved in my heart.
The mark upon you which gives you your name,
That of the prettiest of angels, though demons run through her veins
Holding her little girl tight within strong arms
Though tears streak her face, for what reason, I do not know, however it gives her a charm...
This mark, dear dark angel mother, defines you
It radiates the beauty I know is inside your being
It brightens your love which you have given unto me; you gave me something I'm not willing to lose
A dear friend, one I cherish, one I hope never to give up
Someone who gives me reason to persevere through each day
And as I sit here, writing this for you, Mother,
I realize you are more special than these words I say
And as I lie here in my coffin, I know there can be no better
Of a dark angel mother.
Listen to my dying words,
You mean so much to me
And I am lucky to have you as I fade from this cruel world,
The only one who has shown and guided me to the light,
Thank you, Mother, truly,
For making my last moments worthy of such elegant night.
