I Am Alone

by Katherine   Jul 3, 2004

As I walk down this road
I see the world before me –
My past is behind me
My future lies ahead.
What does it hold?
Is there something new;
What is there for me to do?
I am lost –
Lost among my thoughts
And the prospect of leaving my friends
Grows closer every day.
I will be alone:
I am always alone.
Will they think of me?
Will I be forgotten
And just be another passing face?
Two thousand miles away I’ll be,
And here they’ll all forget about me.
My love’ll leave,
And only friends we’ll be;
There will be nothing left for me here –
Will there be anything for me anywhere?
Constantly I am left alone,
Is this how it will always be?
Nothing for me here,
Everyone just leaving me be?
I am alone,
And that’s how I’ll always be.
