Awaakeenbiash (Woman on Earth)

Her beaded coat, supple
leather beneath my fingers,
is but hindrance in this moment,
her dress, her pants,
falling into deerskin pools
until her gift is revealed,
no hint in the spectacle
of the war maiden or
counselor to come,
except in her eyes that know,
as I know despite this
dance of flesh that
reacquaints before the dawn.
