Lost Smile, Grew Beard

by The Invisible Boy   Aug 15, 2015

A repackaged me
With a lost smile and a newly grown beard
I remember that day, sometime after May
29th June to be precise was the day I'd always feared
I cried many tears following that day
I thought the pain would never go away
And I was right
As I struggled through July, August saw a ray of light
But that didn't last too long
Mid month I was reminded of a happier time
When I heard video games, a song
That reminded me of our first date
My heart and head turned into chaos
And the weather soon changed
The storms represented my pain
'Almost half of August's rain
falls in just six hours in parts of Greater Manchester'
Read the news headlines
And every drop represented a tear rolling down my face
I have subconsciously been reborn
The end of my first true love broke me
And I no longer smile and truly mean it
In a way the lost smile is a metaphor for the day I lost her
If you ever catch a glimpse of a smile on my face be sure to know
It's all for show
Now I truly know what the line
'Hiding behind the tears of a clown' really means
But one thing helps to camouflage my lost smile
Hair grows from my face
It distracts people from realising there are two things missing
My smile and my happiness
As well as the hair on my face
Inside my heart is a growing pain
Each time I take a mournful but happy stroll down our memory lane
