My Illness

by Beautiful Chaos   Mar 2, 2016

It's so easy
To be who you were
Do what you did
To relieve the weight you carry
To self destruct

It always seems to be right there
Bubbling just under the surface
Calling to you
Reminding you
Of everywhere you've been

You remember everything
Everyone
And the bad always comes so easy
Like an old friend
Ready to comfort and destroy you

The ones who thought they could save you
From everyone but them
Love you
But only for what you give
Everything they said they wouldn't
They did

When you finally start to heal
Again
You're infected
Dejected
Rejected
By the one you really want

You don't know how it happened
You tried to shut it off
But there it is
This illness
Sickness
Disease

Love.....

Wow, this is good and got me thinking. Great images throughout. I too have to agree with Peter, this is poetry that I haven't seen in sometime. I used to turn my head up at theses sorts of things because I never got them but the more and more I read this kid of stuff the more I like it. I just wish I could write more like this instead of rhyming stuff. You have really inspired me to try.

Love: Can mend or break us.

This is great poetry Beautiful Chaos, the like I've not seen before.
You have a real magic with words!

Yes Love. That mysterious force that keeps us all addicted to living, it entices us all until we surrender to its charms, but then, quick as a flash, it can disappear forever, leaving battered and confused souls in its wake.

    Well penned! (Nominated)
