Broken Throne

by Aegis   Jan 4, 2017

My castle has been reduced to rubble,
and my shiny crown melted down into
shackles for my wrists.

Now I only rule over the jagged
spaces in my chest and
on my bed.

Long live the king.

Aegis, this is very raw (I think) and most definitely relatable to many on this site and around the world.

1/ This opening is really well done and it basks in raw emotion and pain from what I am guessing 'lost love,' where once you felt like you ruled the world because of this person you now feel you don't have a purpose because it's still raw in your mind and in your emotions. The imagery is perfect by the way.

2/ This is my fave stanza because it shows that you are heart broken because of the 'jagged spaces in my chest' and again, the imagery of you heart being jagged because of heartbreak is great.

3/ Here, I think you are wiling yourself to live even through the pain abit like egging yourself on or it could be about something completely different.

    Take care,

This is so telling of a relationship gone wrong. One of those "my way or the highway" and when the other person leaves you are left alone, and struggling to breath and kicking yourself for being so hard headed. Well done, I really like the way you write, always with a lot of thought, interesting.
