Impotent

by RustySoul   Jul 12, 2017

Ten years of marriage, childless they were,
“Not a man”, “impotent”, people said.
Through the bitter tongues of slander
The gossip, like fire, quickly spread.

“Abandon him, remarry” they pleaded,
“You don’t have to bear all this shame”
She nevertheless loved him dearly,
He loved her too, much the same.

And there was the one who was blessed
With a darling child and a loving wife,
What the other man couldn’t afford
He possessed all the comforts of life.

Yet he valued not what he possessed,
He beat his wife and scorned his child.
Proved his so-called manliness
By his evil acts and tempers wild.

It often leads me to ponder upon
As to who’s impotent in real sense,
The man who failed to father a child
Or the one whose life is discontent?

Heartbreak to see such horrible things are happening in the society and we can't help those who are going through the suffering.

I think the society is becoming impotent by not taking actions against such things.

    It should stop immediately.

    Nice message you gave.
    Optimistic!

As an infertile woman sometimes treated less than for not being able to be a mother, this ripped my heart apart. This is so heartbreaking and beautiful and sad. Such a stirring piece.

I really liked this a lot. People judge others for all the wrong reasons. I mean, they shouldn't be judging at all but just because someone can produce for whatever reason it doesn't make them a good person. A lot of food for thought with this-
