The Woods

I’m shaking writing this letter trying to hide from what I can only describe as a beast
A few nights now I have been targeted, hunted and obviously marked as this creature’s feast

I thought camping overnight deep in the woods on Halloween would be exciting and so much fun
Six of my friends confirmed they would go but had to drop out and changed my plans into a trip for one

Little did I know that “something” made its home not too far from my camp and that it would find me

My first day was filled with hiking, fishing, resting and finally finished off with some good grilled food
I then crawled into my sleeping bag and fell asleep when I heard my tent unzip and there “it” stood

I prayed internally for whatever this was to just leave me alone and walk back out into the night
The creature screeched loudly and ran at me and sunk its teeth into my stomach latching on tight

The pain forced my paralyzed body to come back to life and I punched at the creature’s scaled face
The shocked creature unhinged itself from my stomach and ran out the tent leaving me in place

That was two nights ago, I’ve lost lots of blood enduring the pain and trying to stop the bleeding
I find myself getting weaker from lack of food, water and blood making my limbs lose their feeling

I’ve expected it to come back to attack me again but it seems to be waiting its screeches are now near
I’m starting to lose consciousness so hard to write…must write….. must write…. oh my god it’s…it’s… it’s h
