No second chance

by Walter   Dec 7, 2017

It might have been a long time ago
But the memories I cannot forget
And you say that we've both grown since then
My heart still holds its regret

You have suddenly walked back into my life
And you're acting like we only just met
Although part of you still lives in my heart
I'm not sure that I'm willing to bet

You're now even more beautiful than ever
More so I break out in a cold sweat
Feelings of you I've thought I forgotten
Have suddenly seemed to reset

You're talking to me like it was only yesterday
That you and I were a duet
In front of you I feel warmer than ever
Even as the sun is beginning to set

All this seems to be moving too quickly
I'm not sure if I'm ready just yet
I've learnt that love and desire are powerful forces
But you don't always want what you get

Absolutely brilliant Walter, but those last two lines really hit home! Love your writing style! :-) x

Thank you kindly Kitty. Yes, those last two lines are my favorite and I think summarize the whole poem :)

Walter, a wonderful write. Are you willing to risk your sanity for another go around with this person? Sounds like you have quite a decision to make.

Thanks Brenda. This actually happened a long while ago and I didn't end up going around in circles again so sanity saved!
